Cloud stopped plucking at his flowery blouse -- originally Aeris' but at the moment it fit him rather too well -- and arched an eyebrow toward Zack, who sat at the corner of the bar wearing a deeply thoughtful look that didn't suit him at all.

"Materia is the crystallized knowledge of the Ancients, right?"
"Far as we know."
Zack looked up at him gravely. "You do realize that means there was a noble and pure Ancient who wanted to be a dickgirl real bad."
Tifa stared at him, a hand on her mouth to keep shocked laughter in. Cloud just blinked slowly, displaying his complete lack of surprise.
"...Did you ever really listen to the words coming out of Aeris' mouth? At any point?"
