I can certainly think of no one else who'd be *too* crazy for Azula. XD He could come riding on Sozin's-comet-which-is-really-dead'd-Gaia, but, you know, she's not yet at the "devour this world and throw the empty husk away" stage of madness so that wouldn't work out super well.

Perhaps starting earlier. Perhaps during the Wutai war, young General Sephiroth walked straight into a trap by their most powerful shamans and was thrown into the spirit world (the lifestream is more of the very edges of another dimension made of pure energy that overlaps with and opens up onto all sorts of planes. XD poor Seph was thrown very far from home.)

So he ends up on the Avatar world and the spirits are quick to grab onto him, om nom nom.

So then Azula in Ba Sing Se starts hearing rumors about this... firebender... who might be a spirit, because his traits are so different and he's pale like a wraith, with pure white hair even though he looks so young, and his clothes are COMPLETELY WEIRD (black leather??) and his eyes are Earth Kingdom green and slit like a dragon's. And he doesn't even need forms to firebend, he just reaches his hand and FIRE EVERYWHERE. D: dragon in human skin!

But oddly polite. (once he realizes he isn't in Wutai, that is.)

Azula is disdainfully amused and doesn't believe one word of it, up until the guy reaches the gates. Hello I would like to make use of your library if you don't mind. Passport? Who needs that.

... it's really hard to believe he's a firebender, because even if he had black hair he doesn't look a thing like any of them, and even apart from that there's something otherworldly about him, and the peasants are way more likely to believe the dragon in human skin theory. The Earth generals in the city, who are only working from reports, are more inclined to killinate first and question second but sephiroth is so unafraid it's strange and makes them hesitates, and then Azula convinces Long Feng/The King/the Dai Li (whoever is in control at the time idk) to have the man brought in for a chat. Sephiroth is all "Of course I will follow you, Elite Earthpeople Escort" and doesn't have the decency to act like he's being imprisoned or threatened at all.

And then mindfucks ensue, where Azula tries her best to pry Sephiroth open to see what she can use and how, and Seph doesn't give a shit because all he wants is their library but he could also go and look elsewhere if he really had to and most of her attempts slide on him easy. he has no Fire Nation pride to play on, no family to threaten or mock, and he despises his father too much to care when Azula attempts to insult him -- nothing he doesn't already know, and she really has NO IDEA anyway.)

Then when it's understood that he has no bonds to the fire nation and just wants to go home the generals try to hire him to fight for them, and that's when azula gets all "hey wait no that's not allowed >(" and seph is all "... è______é kufufu. I do need money...~" and she's all "hey he's topping mle that's not allowed stop outmaneuvering me seriously stop it right now" and gets completely distracted from long fen and her uncle and the avatar, and so Aang slips right through to his bison and zuko never gets mindfucked into betraying iroh and jet gets freed from the mindfuck and doesn't die and all is yay and unicorns. Except for Azula, who can't stop thinking about ways to have that stranger on his knees begging for her mercy. XD
