i suck for not doing real commenting blatherings, i know. tomorrow, i'll do both this chapter and last week's! but right now, just dropping an idea before i need to crash and sleep and I lose it.



i saw people bitching about how the inclusion of mikoto and babysuke (especially babysuke) were just random and unnecessary fanservice and blahblah annoying, or just here to spam how speshul the narusasu bond is blahblah.

huh.

Okay, I don't doubt that making girls go AWWW was a good plus in favor of the idea to include babysuke, but.

sarolynne: I don't really know. I mean, baby Uchiha's are super cute, but it seems like a weird thing to put in as fanservice for a manga whose primary demographic is TWELVE YEAR OLD BOYS. Not a group generally known for cooing over infants.

in other words, srsly doubt it was the prime motive to include babysuke.

Is Kishi's motive to show how special Naruto and Sasuke's friendship is? The babies didn't look at each other or anything, they were just sleeping there. If we look at the size of their (naruto's) graduating class, I suppose it's not too surprising Kushina might have known the ones who happened to both be kunoichi and pregnant at about the same time she was. it's not like we're talking one chance in a million here, more like one chance in, oh, twenty-seven... if we pretend that Sakura's mom was a ninja as well... i mean, if there were so few kunoichi pregnant at the same time, and most everyone seems to at least know each other on sight, and kushina wasn't exactly low profile... it's not an asspull that they knew each other, at least well enough to tease a bit. Kishimoto didn't present it as a BEST FRIENDZ FOREVAR thing so I don't know how that can count as destined friendship for sasuke and naruto.

But, yes, Kishimoto could have chosen Chouji's mom or Kiba's (Kiba's mom and Kushina would have been hilarious) but he chose to use the Uchiha mommy, so yes, we can presume there was a reason. mikoto was a milf.

In the previous chapter i could have accepted "random fanservice with a tiny touch of foreshadowing" or maybe a touch of "look, their moms were friendly with each other, OTP FROM THE WOMB" (*eyeroll eyeroll*) but considering this chapter has Madara revealing himself via sharingan and then it ends on a closeup of -- not SASUKE, because Sasuke is a sleepy baby who mostly lays there like a log and looks cute. But on ITACHI, holding his little brother protectively and looking alarmed. Okay Sasuke was in it, but he had zero agency and didn't even emote. The acting character in that page was Itachi.

I think Sasuke here was just an accessory. >__> It's likely what's coming up is either an exploration of the Uchiha clan and their "oh shit they're gonna think we did it and then they'll accuse us unjustly OMG EVERYONE HATES US AROUND HERE", or the birth of Itachi's hatred for war/violence, or both.


(.. okay also itachi being such a cuddly big brother with that brand-new baby that he would be sitting outside the house with tinysleepySasuke on his lap is just so adorable i get squeaky when i think about it. XD but.)


sarolynne: I do wonder about that inclusion. Because Kushina is supposed to be the one explaining it to Naruto, it's not just pure flashback history--so is she including these details? In which case, will they become relevant.
sarolynne: mildmay joked that Itachi and Sasuke where in it because Itachi is also chilling in Naruto's head, and he's adding details. Like, yo, this happened here too. I remember that.

and then my brain went thud and stalled and i couldn't formulate anything intelligently anymore. just n'awww's at babysuke and babytachi, which i hope we see much of next chapter and NYAH NYAH to the haters. we have to deal with an itachiless and a cutesukeless manga far more often than you have to deal with a manga with them in it, so there.

I think it's time for bed. yes.

This is why I've kicked about every Naruto community off my f-list. The wank and the bawwwwww fanservice we don't like!! >:E ANYONE WANT CHEESE WITH THAT WHINE?

If we knew more about the timeline from when Naruto was born, we'd have a better idea of Itachi hatin' war. I had a feeling that Minato was made Hokage after the war had ended. Mandara talked about how Itachi learned to hate war because he got to see it. (But then again, when can we ever believe anything Mandara says?)

Idk, but I've actually had the image of Kushina and Itachi being kind of close. I'm sure Mikoto was a kick ass mom, but she seemed pretty behind her husband and the rest of the clan when it came time for mutiny. He could have learned the differences of his clan vs the rest of the Village and the ideals he had from Minato and Kushina very very easily. But then again, I've always been a wishful thinker.

Also: oh my god baby!Sasuke and baby!Naruto and bitty!Itachi and Kushina dying next to her new baby while her husband goes (in a badass coat) to go die fighting the bijuu she's supposed to be holding and cuddling Uchiha brothers (I may be hung up on that one) and and and and BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!

This chapter was awesome. I don't care what anyone thinks about "cliche" or "unnecessary fanservice" or the like. Awesome. Hmph. u.u

...I even saw somewhere that that person was NOT Mikoto, it was Madara under a genjutsu, because the REAL Sasuke baby is at home with itachi, and that's how Madara learned that Kushina was due. DDDD:

Sasuke is around two-three months old at this time and Kushina is just now finding out he is Not A Girl. Speaking from experience yes for those first couple month after birth you aren't hanging out with your friends much and being social, but your friends at least know the gender of your new baby, if not the name.

Being the wife of the Hokage and being the wife of the head of such a big important clan it would be weird if they didn't know each other. But signs point to more friendly acquaintances, not good friends.

ALSO! Kushina said 'Oh they'll be the same age, I hope they'll be friends!' not 'Oh I was hoping Sasuke was a girl so they could get married and have babies!' which would have been fanservicy....But it would have been funny if she did XD

Out of curiosity, what do you think about the rumor that's going around that Mikoto was the one who told Madara about Kushina's pregnancy (or told her husband, who told Madara)? I've seen more speculation on that than people complaining about Sasuke and Itachi being there.

IMHO, it was to show ~~WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN~~, and just make where they are now and how everything actually turned EVEN MORE heartbreaking/face-palm-inducing T___T.

Oh god KibaMama + Kushina @__@ I wanna seeee iiiiit. AND KAKASHI AND GAI SHOULD BE THERE TOO. Just because. Those two are just so damn good at crack 8DDDD.

And it makes perfect sense for Kushina and Mikoto to know each other -- I mean, Kushina is THE HOKAGE'S RIGHT HAND + WIFE (and also the jinchuuriki and source of the villages power, but that's neither here nor there =D), and Mikoto is THE MOTHER OF A CLAN + WIFE OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE.
I'm sure Minato and Fugaku had to work together often, so why is it so unreasonable that Kushina and Mikoto did too? I mean, they're both kunoichi!! In the same generation!! It's more than likely they went on a mission together at one point. (I mean, the whole Konoha 12 + Sand 3 are pretty tight. If two of those kunoichi happened to meet in the doctor's waiting room because they were both pregnant, CONVERSATION WOULD HAPPEN. *rolls eyes*

Shit, I wanna see them on a mission now, T__T. Can you imagine Kushina + Mikoto being badass kunoichi on a mission? They'd work together almost like Naruto and Sasuke! (except older/more mature, female, and WAY less disturbed. But not exactly "healthy", either. I mean. They're shinobi in a war. And Kushina was the FOREIGN JINCHUURIKI. And Mikoto grew up in a CLAN. And... Mikoto's husband is possibly planning a coup against her mission-partner's husband! .... I think I ship them now >_> based almost solely on hair!! /shallow
