0. The cover page... Sorry Naruto, you look weird. XD Color failure?

1. The kages... Damn but that woman is hot. Also yay for brunettes! Though it's red-brown. I hope it doesn't turn into pure red in the anime, we have enough of those. >___> Big-nose looks like the fun drunken-style karate grandpa type. Killerbee's brother is also kind of hot. >__> Danzou's red eye showing through just looks like he's some kind of terminator XD;;; ... and then naruto taking center stage like he's one of them. hahaha no. ATM you're still aiming over your station, kiddo. :p

2.I'd really love to know where Juugo's skill with animals come from. because while in a stylistic point of view it might emphasize the divide between killer beast juugo and at peace with nature juugo, the yay!cuteanimalz still doesn't really naturally flow from his known ability/bloodline/curse seal thing. What, so he has two bloodlines?

Karin being surprised that she's coming... huh. So they tend to stuff her in a corner and not use her past the original "point me" normally? But she fought against KillerBee... Or was she hoping to be left behind for... whatever reasons? Weird. I'm probably analyzing a random comment too much.

Oh that Kishi, so sneaky with that last panel of >__>!!! from Danzou. I was all "eek, confrontation!" but of course, not yet. Woe.

3. I kinda like how Sai's birds would become writing again. And that "..." "it's just an update." oh, Danzou is so aware that Sai is starting to slip his leash, so I keep reading into every little silence where Sai is the topic of Danzou's thoughts. Hohoho. I wonder what he saw in what Sai did NOT say... or what he wanted to hide to the two guards... or it was just a random "..." because he's a naturally secretive bastard. XD;;

Okay I admit i'm also overanalyzing everything so far because I don't really want to get to the bowing scene yet. I have a huge public embarrassment/shame squick and it's making me physically uncomfortable on Naruto's behalf, so i'm dragging my feet. ~__~;;

4. I like the way the swords are affixed to the sides of their armor-things, but those gas-masks make all the samurai look like stormtroopers -- just as dehumanizing and interchangeably drone-like. XD;;; I hope we see a few of them unmask themselves at some point.

Karin filling her role as exposition-girl... mnh. Someone has to. Though it's always funny how she and suigetsu bicker. Suigetsu going "haha, you got in trouble" is such classical pulling of pigtails.

Also, AHA! at plant-guy (okay i admit i'm totally blanking on his name right now, but like i care) going "danzou is no friend of ours." ... So Danzou is unlikely to be Madara! Unless Madara hid that from him, too. he seemed to compartimentalize a lot of the info he had depending on which of the Akatsuki he was talking with. ... but that would be pushing things a bit far, wouldn't it. >___> I think i'll keep being worried about that theory until we see Madara and Danzou in the same scene together.

I wonder about yamato and kakashi's attitude -- they didn't even ask what naruto wanted to do? okay it's supposed to show they trust his judgment and admire his new hero status now or something? and then... failure. well i guess he must learn not to succeed every time, yeah? >_> it's just a bit weird how the two of them just went along with him when they're supposed to be his superiors. maybe they have other backup plans... yeah.

I was reading Naruto discussions, and came across people complaining about how if Naruto REALLY wanted to live up to his ideals, he'd let the Raikage (who is in this alternate reality, right and not a douche) kill Sasuke, and THEN not take revenge himself. Rather than trying to stop people from killing him. That would REALLY show depth and growth and angst, and whatever, it was mostly people who wanted to hate on Sasuke.

11. I like Sai trying to understand Naruto and Sakura's bonds to Sasuke and to each other. But this page especially -- I think it's the first time, chronologically, we get to see Naruto refering to his feelings for Sakura in a serious manner, and to the promise of a lifetime. Poor Naruto, he ships sasusaku so hardcore even when it hurts him. ;^;

12.Sai finally decides that he can't just stay put just because naruto asked! woohoo X3

13. oh look, the plot thread with the Hyuuga being traitorously attacked for their byakugan is FINALLY brought up. After... how long? Man. But I'll be happy to see that plot thread be resolved (mostly because it means either neji or hinata! ohhh neji it's been so long. *___* or both! or even hanabi!!! ohman yess.)

14. i like the raikage as an enemy who isn't necessarily evil, but who has very different hardassed cynical opinions. (... it's still hard to even look at anything but the content of the speech bubbles. i suck.)

About Juugo... eeeh, perhaps he's got a contract with birds? I must be the only one in the world, but Juugo interests me and I'd like some focus on him.

The bowing scene didn't affect me much - it seemed just another way for Kishi to paint Naruto as a martyr who'd take any kind of beating or humiliation for world peace. ~~When are you gonna participate in Miss World, Naruko?~~ -_- Personally, I found it better than Karui's beating last week, at least. *shrugs* That was just stupid. Anyway, you can bet all of this is just lead up for the Raikage acknowledging Naruto's awesomeness.

I don't know if it's only in the anime, but in the latest episode juugo was shown chatting with squirrels... or was it bunnies? or deer or something. If it's an anime goof that's file, but i was under the impression it wasnt only birds he had a bond to, and that wouldn't work with a summoning contract. Also he seems to call up random unsummoned birds too, where we've never been shown, say, akamaru liking kakashi more than anyone else because he has a dog summon.

Oh jesus god. ToT I share that same embarrassment squick (I think the humblest cultures are actually the most arrogant) and I skipped right over that scene without properly reading it.

I'll be honest, I as fascinating as Sasuke is, I dislike him as a character, but seeing Naruto do shit like this for him makes me like Sasuke 'cause I just wanna believe he's someone who's worth it all, right?

I kind of wonder how moderators are chosen, and if it's just a fancy way of saying "I'm here to make sure the strongest ninja in the land don't beat the shit out of each other."

I think they chose this moderator becayse he's powerful enough to be on par with the kages (hopefully!) but being a samurai he's not as directly concerned with their inner politics and therefore might be somewhat neutral? And he chose to host it because, ummm. I guess having a war on his doorstep is bad for him? No idea. >_>;;;

At japflap I read the speculation that it is an updated version of the jesus no jutsu, namely the jesus no jutsu with time delay. It will work some minutes later, or, even better, during the Kage Summit.

Yamato's and Kakashi's attitude - my opinion is that they have something else in mind. I think that they want to get Naruto out of Konoha, and therefore they don't care too much about what he has to tell the Raikage - they are glad that they did not have to persuade him to leave against the will of the Hokage.

I like this idea for kakashi and yamato, because otherwise it's really bending the settings and characters to make naruto look more awesome which is ew. >.>

I think, maybe, we're getting the first glimmering of what Naruto is doing and why he avoided letting Sakura in on this whole thing. Like you mention above, there are whole levels of saving face in Japan. There's levels above bowing down like this, too...likw formalized suicide. I'm concerned Naruto's willing to take all of this that far, and cut his friends out of the loop for exactly that reason.

Oh, that's a good point, about him not wanting sakura to see him beg. That would take a lot of the sting about him not even telling her he'd be going for me.

I've been thinking there's something deeper going on here ever since Naruto told Kakashi about the 5th. After all, Naruto's been behaving very differently since he 'came back' from seeing his father- his refusal to kill Pain, now this desperate behavior to avoid more death and get Sasuke back. Granted, going to great lengths for Sasuke is nothing new from Naruto, but this inner turmoil over peace? I know life has always been important to Naruto, and others have been critical of a ninja who values life, and Naruto has never really cared what they think ("if that's what being wise means, then I'll live like a fool forever!"). This is a new level, though. I'm thinking Naruto sees more clearly what Tobi is and what he's doing- that he's manipulating everything and maybe that the current state of the ninja world has his fingerprints on it. I think Naruto gets, on some level, what Tobi's endgame is and he's trying to overcome it by taking up the opposite extreme. His actions felt naive until he talked to Kakashi...now I think there's something more that's weighing him down.

I've been thinking about what how Sasuke techinically hasn't killed anyone (yet) and it got me wondering if that's a possible engine for Sasuke's redemption; if Sasuke's first "real" kill is in defense of Naruto/Sakura/Kakashi/you get the picture instead of for revenge...

It's a hard scene for me to read, because the sasunaru pings are love but the rest is kneejerk NGAH. So i'mma take the pings to heart, but just... not read it over. Since there are so many narusasu moments in the whole manga, it's not like I'm missing too much. XD;;

Yeah, it was kind of hard for me to read too at first. Once I got to the end and thought aboout it, though, I just couldn't stop thinking about how far Naruto was willing to go for someone who - as far as he knows - couldn't give a shit about him. I'm a Japanophile so I had some inkling of just how "big" a thing getting down on his hands and knees and willingly making himself look weak really was; plus, the fact that he was willing to do that while injured...that had to be some kind of physically painful. I can totally understand you feeling DO NOT WANT about the whole thing though, I felt the same way at first till I thought about it.

Yeah I loved it too. I was all "See? You're not a totally heartless bastard like you think you are!" ^__^ But it's kind of buried in the whole hachibi fight and not really that obvious to everyone (and I'm sure the Sasuke-haters just plain igored it if they did see it). I don't just want more moments, I want obvious undenieable Sasuke-equals-notevil moments...I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I want Sasuke to have an extended Team 7 flashback. *shot*

Also, I was reading through my new copy of Stephen K. Hayes' book "The Mystic Arts of the Ninja" *is closet Hayes fan* and I think I stumbled across a pretty good explaination on just how and why Sasuke's as messed up as he is, and why he's taking orders from Madara even though it's been previously established that he has issues with the Authoriteh...but it's too long for this comment.

I share your squick. A lot. I cover my ears and close my eyes when people are about to embarrass themselves in movies or on TV. I avoid movies where the main character is an idiot or incompetent because the main gag is always "look he did something stupid, laugh at him!" and all my friends know not to suggest such movies.

I can't stand embarrassment, personally or in regards to someone else.

Me too, oh god, I always blurt out some random excuse and leave the room whenever shit like that comes up on TV. I don't even watch much TV anymore, and thanks to that kind of thing I really don't miss it. urgh. *huddles with*

plant-guy's name is Zetsu....I thought it was kinda funny that Sasuke is sitting up in the ceiling by the time the Kages get there. Been waiting long, Sasuke?

Thank you for explaining to me why I hated that scene. I've been avoiding that kind of thing for so long that I totally forgot about my humiliation squick.

When I was a little kid and I read books where people were stupid in public for comic relief or the uber cool main character stomped someone down to show how omgawesome they were, I would just bury my head in the pillow to make it go away.

I was just sitting there wincing at the screen. It was so bad, I missed the pings. I missed the PINGS.

But yay kage meetings! YESYESYES. (I'm so proud of Kishi for resisting the temptation to make Stripper!kage a redhead. He's not gone the whole way, but he's managing auburn. Baby steps, Kishi, baby steps.)

As a side note, I tend to forget what happened in the last chapter when I'm reading the next one because I just read the series to see what happens. Thus, LookMommyI'mHalfAPerson!Zetsu freaked the shit out of me. In the good way. It was frankly a lot more exciting the second time round.
