I yawned a lot during the manga version of this arc, but seeing it in anime form was still nice...

Mostly because it was 45 minutes of sitting there and watching instead of having to turn pages and wait a few weeks for the end. XD

Cool things: Kakashi was kinda fanservicey, especially being tackled by Kakuzu. Shikamaru was kinda badass. Naruto's blue-with-slit-pupils eyes = hawt baby.

LMAOWHAT things: evil deer glare. Hidan being freaked out by evil deer glare. whaaaat. Also Sakura spying a conveniently timed moment between Shika and Asuma and neither of them noticing as they chatter despite how badly she's hidden. For a ninja village the Konoha guys seem to have really sucky peripheral vision.

rarr things: you'd think with all the random filler they pull out of their asses they could spare a minute to give Ino something to do that isn't "*gasp!* kakashi-sensei! D: " =__=

Now, good episode or not, I would still be glad that it's over... but... you know... NEXT ARC UP IS FREAKING FILLER AGAIN. Urgh.

Naruto going "I won't let them have the Sanbi" -- ahaha, good, you need to get used to the taste of failure. Also the ... bad guy woman that orochimaru somehow knows? She uses freakin' Crystal element. What the fucking fuck. What is that made of? Ice and rock? Ice already is wind and water. Water and rock? Talk about a WTF mix.

At least there will be some team Kurenai in it, but shit. I want Sasuke already. T_T


As for the current manga arc, I have nothing to say but *yawn*. Kakashi pretending to die is leaving me completely cold, I reacted more to Konohamaru's teacher's sacrifice than to konohamaru himself -- stupid kid, and he's got younger brother immunity as well so I'm not even worrying he might possibly kick it -- and Pain is so goddamn boring. Perfect emotionless godmode~ might as well have them fighting the tides or something. Also where the fuck is Sakura. Fuck you Kishi for giving her ONE token punch and then shuffling her off to the hospital so that she can fix the people Pain keeps injuring while he keeps rampaging because no one else is kickass enough to help. Stupid stupid stupid. Stop the bad guy AND THEN take care of the survivors! The longer the bad guy is around and the more injured people there will be in the end! argh.

Argh.

I suspect I'd find this arc really cool if I read it all in one go, because there's deeper background plot finally coming to the surface, but it's full of people I really don't give a damn about so the more immediate character-driven side is really blah to me. Alas I'm way too impatient to let any kind of backlog build up.

I pretty much agree with all of this, except to say that this episode made me really happy during the time that Shikamaru was onscreen showing unbelievable geniusy hotness. That is all.

Totally agree on the 'girls are useless revolt front'- Kishi-kun is being a right idiot as per usual- though Tsunade healing through Slug!Power was quite imaginative there just isn't enough girl power.

I mean, Tenten doesn't even have a family name yet! >_<

And I want Hinata to have ONE chance to prove to Naruto and more importantly herself that she is a strong person and kunoichi.

I might as well wish for Hyuugacest while I'm at it. u_u

It sucks, but I heard that Kishi really wants to finish it up and move the story along but Naruto is making so much money that the producers are making him drag it out.

I totally believe it... 'cause... Kishi has some sense in storytelling, thanks. He knows better than to bore his readers like this.
(but augh Pain. I can't seem to like him.)

Which is why I've sworn off the manga until they get to the part in the anime that we are currently at in the manga. This plan is subject to change if we hit "lame-year-long-filler-for-no-reason" syndrome, but otherwise I'm sticking to my guns.
