Watched the Avatar finale yesterday...

... Liked it a lot, though there were some weak points on reflection -- it was pretty epic. I don't know what else I should mention ATM (thoughts on ~~yaoi~~ finale/season/series/pairings/plot available on demand in comments), except it prompted me to rewatch Zuko scenes from the first and second season and now I've got Jet/Zuko bunnies.

They're mostly all about sex. Suspicious, angry, all-about-one-upping-each-other sex, where Zuko starts out as "what? what? guys can do that HEY HANDS OFF >:O" and turns into a blushy, flustered, "oh FINE but I don't like it at all, really -- but I'm not scared of doing it back to you, and BETTER" kind nnngh hot, and Jet is a smirky stalking bastard who likes to try to ambush Zuko at random because even when Zuko just tries to killinate him it's still great. Because Jet wants Zuko to think of him as often as Jet thinks of him, even if it's the paranoid "when is he going to pounce next" kind and not the "I wish he'd let me join his Freedom Fighters" kind.

What I wouldn't give to have my lemon bunnies alive again. T^T

It burns even more because I found a fic that was almost exactly what I wanted to read about -- Zuko was washing dishes and trying to ignore Jet when suddenly! body against his back! Is he going to attack?! DDD: but it suffered from so-so writing skills and OOC of the sex-makes-them-sappy kind, not to mention Jet learned Zuko was a firebender and his only reaction was "yay now i have something to blackmail you into letting me sex you up again." Um what. I'm almost tempted to steal it and rewrite it properly, but whoa that would be pretentious. XD But I'm so sad, it was what I was looking for but just done wrong.

Anyway. I've been poking at FFnet and the

jetheartszuko community, but if anyone else has recs, plz gimme gimme. *grabby hands*

sarolynne: I wish they would have built some more room for growth into their relationship. Azula... I don't know. She was such a flat character. They finally did give her a LITTLE psychology, but it's still pretty freaking thin.

Omg you Writing Avatar Fanfics, especially Jet/Zuko fics will make me want to give you my first born and many more after that if you want them.

Glad you liked the Avatar finale, and I agree that some parts were a bit weak, but still It as everything I hoped for (except Zutara but oh well know that wasn't gonna happen anyway).

I am curious though, what was your favorite part and why? I always like to ask people that?

I had a long!fic idea but that was a whole season ago and canon nuked it pretty hard. Never did develop a real plot to go along with all that angst. T^T *killed Aang like a heartless bitch >3*

Hm, my main gripe was that -- what? All that shit Aang got for how his not being able to detach with his love for Katara means he can't get to the Avatar state, and a poke in the back does it with no explanation? I saw somewhere that it had to do with the chakra points Ty lee manipulates and how his was blocked, but while it makes sense, it wasn't made clear in the show itself and that makes it feel a bit like cheating. (also, aang the atom = DX silly design.)

Also I was sad Mai and Ty Lee didn't get to escape from prison to go and participate in the final fight, but yeah there wasn't much space left.

I think my favorite bit was when Azula had a talk with her mother in the mirror. She just about broke my heart. The Katara/Zuko VS Azula fight was pretty awesome too. And Zuko and Iroh. T^T And Bumi's "all old people know each other!" XD

(... Kinda loved all those little Zutara moments. I do think kataang is sweet, though Katara seemed to have doubts for the sake of milking the "Will they OR WONT THEY" cow, and then threw her doubts away at the end with zero explanation so the ending was kinda cheesy. Not in a bad way, though. Pairing's alright but kinda boring to me, also Aang being 12 is a major turn-off XD I want bitchy, sexy rawr! couples, so all the zutara subtext pinged me pretty nicely. I'm just fine with it not being canon, as long as it has subtext to make me go *__* ... Still, no one had sparks with Zuko quite like Jet had. AND they both use dual swords! SWEET.

I think Jet is the only guy I can decently slash Zuko with. I've read a couple good ZukoSokka fics, but... they have no chemistry in canon, and I like SokkaSuki anyway. And ZukoAang would be nice if Aang was just a couple of years older, but as it is... noooo. Now that Zuko's less "i must capture the avatarrrrr" he seems to have less romance hooks with Aang anyway. XD)

The Chakra thing... hmm... Well I see it as that Aang didn't need to give up Katara, I mean all the other Avatars had beaus and such. And Iroh even says in the second season that Aang made the right choice by choosing love over power. And I think that when Azula zapped him, it blocked the chakra, which Katara even said in the first episode that it was blocked, so a back pokey kinda un blocks it. Also... I think the Lionturtle thing, by poking him with lightbulb fingers made it unblock also.... It's a wishywashy subject i guess.. And yes.. Atom/Planet aang was a little strange.... My first reaction to it was "Oh look it's Avatar Saturn"

Mai and Ty Lee fight would have been awesome... but I think it was also great how they weren't there, cause then it would be all "Whose Side am I on?" Kinda thing because neither of them said they fully agreed with Zuko ro Azula. Mai just saved Zuko cause she loved him, and Ty Lee saved Mai because they are friends, not necessarily betraying Azula in a sense that Zuko going over to the light side did kinda yanno? I don't know if I make sense.

I actually felt really bad about Azula throughout the whole finale... I actually like her little breakdown... I felt it comming since the Beach episode. Much better end for her than if she was just taken out in a fight. Everyone feared her and she was very strong, no one could defeat her it seemed except herself. I like it.

Zuko/Katara vs. Azula was totaly awesome.. I think it was better than Ozai vs. Aang. Just the way it was animated and just Gah love it. Gotta admit I kinda screamed and almost cried when I though Zuko was down for the count... I was very Upset.. Zuko is my favorite (and I seemed to be cursed with Favorite characters who always seem to die) and if he got taken out by Azula I would have been very upset.

Also King Bumi totally rocks.... Seriously.

I looooved Sokka's little "Gramp Gramp!" and "How about GramPakku?" and when he broke his leg and holding onto Toph, and he was all like "I don't think Boomerang is comming back" Don't know why but that part totaly rocked my socks...

Yea Sooka/Zuko is stange for me too... I see them as Dorky best Friends, and such, but no slash from them.
As or Zuko/Aang.... I have always felt a big brother vibe from Zuko. Like Azula sucks as a little sibling, so Zuko kinda adopts Aang as his little sibling. *shrugs*

wow that was really long and doesn't make much sense... ehehe ^.^;;; None of my friends like Avatar so I am just happy to squee about it with someone!

The problem with the "giving up" Katara wasn't that he wasn't allowed to have a girlfriend -- it's that he's the Avatar; he's supposed to place the world first. But he prefered to sacrifice the world's fate than to risk Katara, and so he lost his connection to the Avatar state. That state of things hasn't changed -- he's even more deeply in love with Katara by now. So why haven't we seen the "okay, I have to give it my all now, I hope I can come back later, katara, but I have to do this"? It's not like he needed to kill her to prove his state of mind had changed and he accepted his role, and the Avatar state might actually help save her skin, but he didn't even reach THAT conclusion onscreen. He just got poked in the back in a move that might have crippled him, and instead he got insta-powerfulz. I was sad. T^T

(okay the fighting was pretty sweet, even though it was also not as exciting as the zuko fight. Lots of "firelord attacks! Aang defends and is losing!" and then "aang counterattacks! firelord is losing!", it was pretty to look at but it felt kinda like a DBZ fight. It doesn't make much sense how Aang got the super-saiyan powerup.)

... I couldn't understand one word the lionturtle said, so hey, maybe there was something about it in there. XD

Well, I really thought Mai and Ty lee's character arcs weren't complete -- the last we saw them they'd taken a pretty decisive action, and the last we see them they're going to be punished, and omg are they going to side with the Avatar's point of view now or be neutral and just fight because they have to or what? It feels like their character development was axed just after a pretty powerful point without dealing with the fallout of that. Granted it's easy to guess what happened in the epilogue -- yay they're good now -- but I'd have liked to see it a lot better. ;__; (but yeah, they didnt have three hours. XD)

Yeah, I really liked Azula in that. She was awesome and so paranoid. I was all "aw!" from the moment she went all panicked and angry and "you can't treat me like ZUKO!!" because it was so clear that no matter how power-hungry she was, she also wanted her father's approval, since her mother had rejected her so badly.

(in a twisted way, I think she would have been able to backstab her father easily and steal the throne -- because then he would have seen her as someone extremely powerful and who applies the philosophy of life he taught her, and in a way she would have done it to prove how well she became what he raised her to be. "look daddy, I'm fearless and ruthless now, do you admire me yet?" But being pushed aside as useless and not allowed to prove herself really hurt her. Poor kid. XD)

yeah, you're right, now that they're friends the zuko aang is definitely brotherly. Or maybe cousinly. Like "okay, how the hell did you climb all the way up that tree, don't move, i'll get you down ~__~;;;" XDDD

I don't have recs (haven't even watched the finale yet, although dammit I need to catch up), but omg, Jet/Zuko is one of my few true zomgOTPs in the show. Mostly I just enjoy the canon pairings and go "aww" as appropriate, aside from Sokka/Suki which for some reason totally pushes my buttons (ffff need to catch up!!), but Jet/Zuko makes me go "T___T wantmore!"

You really need to watch the finale. Amongst other things, Sokka and Suki are so totally doing it. They're adorably fun.

(Hmm, careful about this post, I think we're gonna spoil the hell out of the finale. XD)

D: Jet and Naruto? now that you mention it there might be some parallels, but...

Zuko and Sasuke are similar in some ways, though Zuko is a huge dork and he's a lot more soft-hearted than Sasuke is -- he makes some pretty huge mistakes just because he wants to be loved and then regrets the hell out of it, whereas Sasuke makes his mistakes out of the ironclad belief they're the only way to attain his goal and he can't afford to coddle his own feelings and he hasn't allowed himself any regret in years. But Jet and Naruto are absolutely nothing alike. Naruto's fundamentally a good guy, even though he was a brat as a kid. Jet has good sides especially to "his" people, but he doesn't want to be loved by everyone the way Naruto does; he just demands that people remember and stare at him, and if it can't be in a good way then it might as well be in a bad way. Also he sees nothing much wrong with making off with people's stuff or casualties caused by friendly fire as long as he was the one who fired. His reaction to Zuko is part "I like guys like you", part "you'd be useful to me with those abilities" and part "don't you walk away from me when I'm talking to you, bitch". (and then there's the "how dare you turn out to be an evil firebender when I actually liked you, you did it just to get at me, this is SO personal now" irrational bit. XD)

...so, if you find anything worth reading, help a girl out and rec them. >.>

I personally liked the "Azula going insane" part. I thought it was really well-done. The progression of her downward spiral gave me chills.

...I was, however, a little annoyed at the ending. Which was perfect, when it is obviously not going to be. Since, you know, the world is basically in tatters and the people in it are Not Happy about it. I wish there'd been a bit about the actual struggles they had to go through. Also, we didn't get to see Zuko's mom. This makes Adi sad. T__T

What'd you think about what Aang did to Ozai at the end?

If I find anything, sure. T__T Alas! lots of tiny one-shots and stalker!jet but not a lot of get togethers. i found three worth looking at and one only had two chapters and the rest weren't what i wanted to read.

The Azula bit was amazing prrt. Granted it seemed a bit fast, but she's been cracked for so long and we only saw key points anyway. XD

I think what he did to Ozai was probably worse than killing him, and I really want to see his face the day he realizes that. >D

I did find it kinda WTF that Zuko is somehow fire lord yet has the time to play tea boy . It's like, does no one realize this guy is the Fire Lord? if that tea shop is open to the public then i predict quite a few assassination attemps. that or zuko has established an alter ego disguise, which could be fun, buuuuut the scar what. XD;

You know what I think that was, that the writer had too many happy endings and couldn't decide between them. "Zuko becomes firelord with Aang as his advisor!" "Iroh re-opens his tea shop and they all live their happily together!" Pick one or the other, folks, can't have both. XD

BTW, way for you to get your wrongtp, Chibendingsex. When Ozai was infecting Aang obviously it wasn't consious. Aang infecting Ozai was, add "One second in brain tiem izza few hours" cliche and you can have it all happen on the mental scape.

I think what got me the most about the ending was how Aang was angsting over the fact that he was going to have to kill Ozai. He's trying to reconsile what he has to do with what he's been raised to never do. And then going and talking to all his previous lives and all that, and its the giant Lion-turtle who gives him what he needs to ends things!

And I think what it said was something like:
Before we bent the elements, we bent the energies within, to bend anothers soul yours must be stronger or it will become tainted.

Or something like that voice was hard to understand.

Watching Azula spiral totally out of control was wonderfully done, watching her turn on everyone and everything, and her hallucination of her mom, and the symbology of no one else at her coronation but the monks when Zuko had a ton of people for his.

And I'll agree with everyone on the fact that it was that bit on the beach that finally did it. When her father gave her exactly what she wanted, but then went and placed himself higher than her, basicly saying that being Firelord wasn't good enough for him, but was plenty fine for her.

I don't remember who asked, but the idea that Ozai and Azula were inbred and that's part of the reason why they cracked just woke the bunnies up.

The Fight Scenes: as a whole, very pretty but...

I like this one because, I think for Zuko it ends their issues somewhat. And this is something that's been going on for th entire series, but we never really realize how deep until what? the latter half of the 2nd season? And the part where he gets shot, and the end bit where asula's not even fighting anymore, she's just lashing out were so *ouch* it was good.

aang vs. ozai
The last 3rd or so when aang is combining elements in his attack for the First Time! was actually pretty cool, though I do think they should have done it sooner. And yeah the whole getting-his-7th-chakra unblocked-by-pointy-rock was kinda/kinda, as for how he could have attained the avatar state it could have just been simple NEED that got him there, I dunno.

The whole bit about the Lotus group reclaiming the city was fun, the "all old people know each other" line made me laugh so hard.

The ending where Zuko's wanting to know where his mom is was gold, though it was unfair that they didn't follow that, really...

The last scene was sweet, as for Zuko's presence I chalked it up to a state visit that he decided to bail on to spend time with his uncle.

That's all I can remember now, need sleep for the rest.
