Naruto chapter 367

1) Sasuke paints his toenails. Ohh Sasuke, you're so gay, just like niisan. ♥ I'm glad we're seeing some expression on your face, dearest. Kinda afraid it was gonna freeze in neutral state. The scared/furious/determined look is so much better. *_*

2) Jiraiyaaaa stop it stop it stop iiiit you're gonna DIIIE if you keep talking too much. (if Tsunade realizes she lurved Jiraiya just after he kicks it I will be Frustrated with Kishi's storylines. Why is it always the guy who dies and the girl who's left behind. Hrrn. They're allowed to have hot sex on his hospital bed, though. After Tsunade puts him there the second time, after saving him from the brink of death and getting him healthy enough for a good beating.)

3) Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina. Kinda "huh" at how random and offhand that grand revelation was, after over 350 chapters of "THE FOURTH" this and "THE FOURTH" that. It kinda feels like Kishi has too many plot threads to resolve and he's doing them as he thinks about them instead of giving them a DUNDUNDUN SURPRISE revelation. Or maybe we need to know their names because it's going to come out that PEIN'S FAMILY NAME IS ALSO UZUMAKI or something, what with him being a redhead and having rain jutsu. Seriously, sometimes it feels as if Kishimoto was born in a tiny village. EVERYONE IS RELATED. EVERYONE. Juugo's their cousin, too. Yeah. Totally. And Karin is so totally a crossbreed with an Uchiha. *wise nod* XDDD)

OMG THEY WEREN'T MARRIED. teh shock. XD I love the fact that Naruto has his mom's name, too. (but damn, Naruto's mom was a beautiful redhead who spoke like a boy and came from the destroyed country of the whirlpool? Who does it surprise that Jesus-Naruto is the son of a Canon Sue. Daddy was already pretty godlike. XD ... Okay, I'm being unfair, it's normal that reminiscing people will only remember the good bits, and destroyed countries must happen from time to time... Yeah. >_____>)

But the 4th's name, oh god. Namikaze -- Wave Wind. Nice elemental combo there -- I WONDER WHAT ELEMENTS YOU USED? KISHI IS SO SUBTLE LIKE THAT. 9__9 And I keep reading his first name as Minako, as in Sailor Venus' name. It means beautiful child. So... fitting. XD

I'm sorry, Fourth, from now on you will be Pretty Seabreeze for me. u____u (even though Minato apparently means Port or Harbor and not anything related to prettifulness... d'aww. Harbor from the sea wind! So romantic. >.>)

I wonder what Kushina means. I can't recognize Kanji worth sh**. Wiki tells me Kushinata was a woman in Yamata no Orochi's legend, and her Kushi bit meant comb... Hrrm. If anyone knows what Kushina's kanji mean, please tell me?

In other news, it's so annoyiiiiiing nnngh to see people whining that OMG SASUKE IS TOO STROOOONG WAH WAH WAH. Naruto is supposed to be the underdog, the one who looks like he's never going to succeed, but he surprises everyone. That's only been his role since the very beginning of the manga, after all. D: The POINT of making Sasuke so badass is that Naruto will defeat Sasuke anyway, and the more awesome Sasuke looks now and the more awesome it will be when Naruto defeats him. (well, if Kishi manages to pull it off. >_> But that's the theory.)

sarolynne: Sasuke has to stay ahead of Naruto, for the most part--and Naruto has to be successful enough at points to be a rival, and threaten him, but normally when everyone else isn't there or is conveniently unconscious--because the hero isn't supposed to be the sure thing.

sarolynne: Hero was a genius with no faults, he wanted things, and he got them without any real competition or setback.

So yeah, it's okay to be annoyed because we see too much of Sasuke (but umm he only spent the whole Sasuke in a barrel arc in his barrel, and then after VotE he disappeared again... That balances out in the end, I think, even though yes, there have been a lot of team snake bits in a row recently.) or because you don't like Sasuke and/or would like to see him brought back to earth a bit, but to whine purely because Kishi makes him too badass and that's ruining the manga... Umm, dude. That's the POINT of his character. He's a measuring stick and a goal to reach for Naruto. How far would Naruto have gotten if Sasuke sucked balls in a fight? Nowhere, that's where.

I wish people wouldn't whine that Kishi just makes Sasuke that cool and badass because he's in love with him (I mean, yes, he's in love with him, but that's not the ONLY reason. XD) and trying to make him the real hero. Okay sometimes it comes across as that, but man's got a plan (probably.) Let him crash and burn trying to execute it before bitching. XP

... Pretty Seabreeze. XD! You win. Actually, I think "Minato" could be the male version of the female name "Minako". -ko is typically a female name ending, iirc, since it's cute. I'm not sure if -to could be the equivalent, or if it depends on the particular characters.

Also, I was totally thinking "Nami" in Namikaze stood for "nothing" or "no name". XD I misread it the first time as "Nanikaze" so I was like.. ZOMG NO NAME WIND. THIS IS WHY NO ONE SAYS YONDAIME'S NAME. HE'S A NANASHI.

And I'm using this icon just to hurt everyone's souls.

I need an icon of yondy looking all sad and thoughtful and then "PRETTY SEABREEZE". ...oh god, Sera, it sounds like a Little Pony name. My braiiiin. XD

It could be, depending on the kanji, but seeing as he's already connected to the sea, and then Uzumaki meaning whirlpool, it's more likely that the "mina" is linked to the sea somehow, not the "mi" of beauty.

Yeah, it probably is more a sea related name than a pretty related name. T_T But we fangirls can dream.

It IS a MLP name, mostly--Seabreeze is a Sea Pony from the 80's (http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/3rd_edition_ponies.html#sea_ponies3), and that just cracks me up because they have little swirly (*coughUZUMAKIcough*) tails. Makes me wonder if Kishi sekritly likes My Little Ponies. XD

It is so wrong that I have the Sea Pony theme song in my head and I'm filking the lyrics to fit him in. "Yondaime's a seeea pony, pretty in a dress~! Helpful as can be pony, when Leaf's in distress~!" XD;;;;

1)Hahaha, I didn't even notice that, I was mindboggled by Tsunade and Jiraiya's conversation. He is also as gay as his teacher Orochimaru. I still can't forget that awesome manicure Orochi had when he fought Itachi in Akatsuki (silly me!). Shit, it made me get one myself XD. Well, I guess Itachi and Naruto are about the few people that can bring that boy out of his shell but he is pretty pissed off at Itachi.

2) *CRIES* Nooo, Ero-Sennin has to be proud grandpapa for Naruto when he becomes hokage but my gut is telling me that he just put his mind at peace.

3) Intervillage relations for the win XD! Wow, if we are going to talk about Naruto's family in a religious context, forget about Jesus, Mary and Joseph, The Uzumaki-Namikazes are the holy trinity (too bad Kushina gets to be the holy ghost XD). The pet theory at chuunin right now is that Pein is Naruto's evil brother which makes you wonder if Naruto is an illegitime child (OOHHHH, more drama XD). But who knows, it might be that Pein was from that destroyed village and knew Naruto's mom. So many possibilities.

I actually LOLed when you confuse Yondy's name with Sailor Venus XD, maybe it is all about love! I can't remember what the discussion at mangahelpers was about the kanji in Naruto's mom name, something about discord? I have to double check.

We need another Gaiden, like about NOW.

Oh and your points on Sasuke are well taken. While I know people are complaining about how badass Sasuke is(WHY??!!! as you said he is supposed to be! He learned from Orochimaru for goth's sake, a sannin!!),and even though I like Naruto better, it just doesn't make sense to me. He shows how much Itachi makes him feel and that is key because he is not as cool headed as he thinks he is (ohh your icon says it all!). I want to see these two talk or fight, it is going to be a good, loooonnnnnggg fight. Don't know if there is going to be interference.

Ahh, I love this manga with all its pit falls and rug pulling theories. You know, I am at work and I am not working very hard XD

So if it goes Water>Fire>Wind>Lightning, does that mean Naruto tops twice and Sasuke once? ~~Or maybe only I think that would be the funniest troll thread ever in the NaruSasu vs SasuNaru wars.~~

ahh the fandom, it lacks a sense of humour. I do lack it sometimes but I have learned to just say my piece and let it go because it isn't worth it.

You know, its not so much that Sasuke is a badass, its that of the three Naruto seems to have learned nothing from Jiraiya. Okay, not nothing...he knows how to use the skills he's always had effectively now, he knows how to make a Rasengan 2.0, and he knows how to (ineffectively) fight genjutsu. But he hasn't demonstrably demonstrated much else that he didn't already know before (accepting unintentioned new abilities, ala the Kyuubi going super crazy). This is particularly annoying when Jir has his best techniques in summoning jutsus, and Naruto has already been trained in how to use those. Shouldn't he know how to do all kinds of amazing stuff with his froggies now or something?

Maybe that's all he needs, to know how to use what he has. Because it doesn't seem like it, but he has a lot of natural advantages too, with the kyuubi strength and quick healing and and long-lastingness and thinks-on-his-feet-ness, and he can combine his Kage bunshin and his rasengan in a ton of ways anyway. Sasuke's sharingan is more flashy, and he has a bazilion techniques, but he always falls back on chidori and katon anyway and it's not like Naruto has NO natural advantage of his own. XD

Maybe Naruto would rather fight on his own than summon minions to do it for him. Maybe it looks more dramatic for the hero of a manga. *shrugs* Maybe Naruto just never got into the habit, when he can use his own bunshins the same way he could use summons (except for when he needs to squish someone with something the size of texas. >.>)

You gotta admit, having a snake coil out of your shirt is a lot cooler than a frog doing so. XD

Hrm. My new theory: Kushina actually did the sealing of the Kyuubi. And even if she did die, as long as there were medics around, you can conceivably save a baby from a dead mother's corpse.

GAH. ;_; apparently it's in katakana. I have a friend who tried to look and I think the only kanji she found was for yondy's name. No kanji. ;___; (well maybe she only looked for yondy -- Uzumaki Kushina's name is on the first panel of page 12, with the close up on Tsunade's face)

... and then I remembered that online quiz I saw years ago which would give you a name and ask 'My Little Pony, Porn Star, or Both?' and I always got them all wrong and *oh god the mental image is winning*...

Despite the suspense-less delivery, the "revelation" of Naruto's parents was enough to make me squee like a maniac and try to explain to my Dad (I live at home and he was next door) why this was such a "YES! Can the fan-dom call it or what!" moment. Key word being try, he now thinks I'm absolutely crazy.

Actually! *points index finger straight up in the air* That closeup on the Uchiha foot leaping away (with the pretty pretty nail polish) is Itachi's. The plain one in the panel before it is Sasuke's. Remember, Itachi has full-cover ninja sandals with the Akatsuki Leggings(TM) (why must all Akatsuki things be teh ghey?), and Sasuke has the open-topped girly sandals a la Tenten/Hinata/Shizune/Tsunade. (OT4?) It's one of the many things about Sasuke that I poke fun at. (You always hurt the ones you love. X3)

...there is so much I want to say, Asuka. My date and I flipped out when we read 367 tonight. but, now that the excitement and adrenaline has dimmed, I am freaking out more - I'm not sure how I feel about the revelations, how they were revealed, and Jiraiya's Fate. *>.<* I'm excited for Sasuke-Itachi interaction, I wants me some Tsunade/Jiraiya pwnage, amongst other things, but I am very, very torn over Naruto right now.

About Naruto's mom being the Uzumaki, I think I was expecting that. I always assumed that Naruto was given his mother's name for whatever reason (most likely so he -and others- wouldn't know that the Fourth was his father) but just because Naruto's mother had a different family name doesn't mean they never married. You should probably know that.

Whatever, I'm probably rambling. It's 2:30am here after all.

Sasuke showing emotions again is quite a relief. And what a lovely brotherly reunion. For some reason though it's not really exciting.

At least now it'll stop the arguing over it. I pretty much expected the Fourth to be his dad, and there have been hints throughout the series, it was interesting how Kishi put it in such an off-hand remark... on the one hand, I did like the reminiscing conversation and I don't know how else Kishi could have done it. I'm glad we learned about his mom too. Thanks for the translations of the names, good to know and quite amusing too.

And Jiraiya's comment about Tsunade betting he'll die... Sigh. He's gonna die, I bet. I hate this kind of foreshadowing, and i hope i'm wrong...
