I don't know if anyone isn't aware yet, but if you have the words "shota" or "incest" or anything related in your LJ interests, you should delete them now. Some kind of vigilante "association" is taking it on themselves to do a witch hunt to find pedophiles and reporting them to LJ, and LJ, having to comply to their terms of service, has been forced to delete the LJs and communities. (the main one that I know of is pornish_pixies, the friendslocked Harry Potter NC17 challenges community, but there are many others.) LJ Abuse wouldn't even have bothered if someone hadn't reported the LJs. The fact is, they're not even reading the LJS to check if that's fictional or not -- what's a bannable offense is apparently having it in your interests. WTF. Not really LJ's fault, though; someone complains, they have to do something about it or face legal action about how they knew and yet aided and abetted a pedo's networking or something.

But anyway. Just in case someone was concerned and didn't know yet. =___=

Please go there and add your own "WTF are you guys thinking" to the pile, if you can spare a minute. Maybe if we bury them under a bazilion "i'm taking my paid account elsewhere, bitch" they'll stop being utterly retarded. Since common sense isn't working, maybe money will speak clear enough. ~_~

It's a nightmare. Discussion coms for fans of both lolita clothing and the book Lolita have been banned becuase Lolita is now a nono word. pornish_pixies *cries* I loved that community.

I Know lj needs to cover it's ass right now thus the blanket banning and suspendings but dammit they'd better reinstate things that had no place being banned at all.

Oddly, listing those had nothing to do with fandom, but of overcoming being molested as a child. This is outrageous and a serious violation of our rights. I'm sorry, Lj may have a legal gun to it's forehead at the moment but personally when it gets to the point that they can't take a few minutes to hire a few people to investigate things that come up under interest searches, there's going to be pointless things like this happening.

Things I can see that are wrong with this....

1/ Mass bannings based on interest lists. Bad LJ.

2/ Imprecise interests listed in interest lists. Lazy? Or unaware loggers?

3/ Vigilanty groups promoting widespread whitewashing of the nasty facts of
life. Has that ever worked? Has the world ever been made better by being
made less informed?

4/ The possibility however slight that fictional material is being used as a
'grooming tool' (I think that's right,) on vunerable children.

A storm indeed. It would have been better to turn everyone of us fanficcers into whistle blowers for the truely supicious sites out there. But no, they decided the baby can go with the bathwater.

I find it amusing that some stupid group wants to purify the internets by cleaning up LiveJournal.

Word of advice, loves: if you want to purify the web, this isn't necessarily the part of it that's in most urgent need of attention.

I'm not against them deleting journals which seriously break laws or rules, but deleting based on people's interests? Ugh. Honestly. There's too much ambiguity in that.
