Wow. I'm personally, and rather virulently hated, by anonymous people (or an anonymous person with multiple IPs). Not even for fandom stuff, either, but, like, personally. Ô_o It's obvious I've been taking over the internets with my spammy horribleness and my daring to exist and they were totally unable to, like, avoid me. (if I eyeroll any harder I'm probably going to injure myself. Jesus.)

(though that "and you think sasusaku will be canon too!!! DDD:" tacked on at the end of that first one makes me lol quite a bit. All the things you could hate me over, and you choose to hate me because I can't see that naruto and sakura's love is true and pure like harry and hermione's no offense intended to either harryhermione shippers or sane, nonrabid narusaku shippers, I couldn't resist. ♥. yeah, sure, I believe you, it's totally because I'm me, and not at all because I dare to not ship what you ship, and I talk about it. Le gasp. XD Also lols at the "omg you write cartoon porn, and by the way this is a horrible insult". Dude, how do you know it even exists if you aren't in fandom yourself? And you've got me rather well-researched for someone who can't stand me. Is hanging out around people whose very existence you utterly despise your secret hobby or something? You need to write more boyporn, seriously.)

Also, the mary-sue in my fics is totally Sasuke. It's so obvious to me, I wonder why people don't call me on it. XD

Good try, regardless. Keep moving people, no drama to see here~ ♥

Aw, no DRAHMUH!? ;_;

What about snickering? Can there be snickering? Maybe with some pointing tossed in there for variety?

Pretty PLEAAAAAAAAASE?!

[identity profile] j-ecrirai.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think these were fake flames because they're very... uh, timewasting. Who bothers to post things like that?
Oh and Sasuke is your Marysue? Huh, I missed that. I was leaning towards the possesed Naruto as your counterpart. Heh. Oh and for the retards I'll get in first then they can just shut up. 'Ewwww you think you're a boy, you're sick.' *hack hack, spit* Got that out, just like a hair ball really.
Oh and cartoon porn is the best because everyone can get in and the most improbable things could happen, (like say two guys having sex with the same girl, at the same time, using the same, uh 'space',) because they're only cartoons.
Personally I read your work so avidly because you don't ship NARUHIN or SASUHINA, she's too pure to share and that's just no fun. And hello T7=LOVE! Like totally.

Bah, anyone tossing around furry as the ultimate insult has to be new to the internet or just took their first peek out from under their bridge. They are, quite literally, ten years too late on that one.

I don't ship NaruSaku, you witless hack. I couldn't care less which two fictional characters you want to write fucking. The humor is in the fact you can't imagine your Sue character (Sakura) not ending up with the token anti-hero nearly everyone in this fandom drools over.

"He has to give Sakura her happy ending!11!!"

No, he doesn't. It's not going to happen. Not because "Sasuke must end up with ____!", but because there is nothing in the manga that suggests it will happen.

And yes, you are pathetic. In a personal sense. You just suggested writing porn about a comic aimed at 12 year-olds is the solution to... who the hells knows. But no, I don't need to write boyporn. You need to write less. Maybe if you spent less time writing about fictional characters fucking on the internet, you might get some yourself.

On the other hand, your delusions are rather amusing, so by all means, continue to be a animu livejournal whore. :)

I don't know, asuka. I just, I always find myself kind of wondering, when people post stuff like that, like... Don't you have anything better to do? That is, if so and so is so lame and pathetic, like, why are you bothering to even tell them that? There's so much shiny, both on the internet and off, that I just... have a hard time figuring out what the point is to wasting your time on someone you dislike. Asuka...I...oh my bloody goodness! *glomps you*

Those were two of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. I thought they were a joke - part of the fake flame war - and then I saw the replies frozen, and I read the above comments, and...I just don't know what to say. It doesn't make sense to me. I missed where you said your words, preferences, and opinions are absolute, and anyone who disagrees is an idiot who should go fuck themselves with a dull spoon and die - because, if that didn't happen, where is all this coming from? You've only ever opinion-shared, always respecting others' opinions, and giving us fabulous fanfiction. If you write something someone doesn't like, can't they just ignore it? I wasn't aware that you were holding people against their will, with a gun to their heads, forcing them to read your livejournal - which is your space to say whatever the hell you want - opinions, shipping preferences and fanfics included.

I happen to like NaruSaku...and HarryHermione. *lol* I also like SasuSaku...actually, there isn't much I don't like [It's fandoms and people that I dislike on occasion, not characters and series]. I especially like NaruSakuSasu, which is how I found you [*adamantly denies being one of your minions*] and I'm glad I did. You've always been respectful to me - which is something rarely found in any fandom, but especially in Naruto-fandom.

And, for whoever didn't know, there a reason this (http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Animu) is called "encyclopedia _drama_tica". Kthanx.

*huggles Asuka*

...I'm sorry, I've just never understood the absolute driving need to tell others that they suck, precisely because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. I mean, part of what makes the internet so interesting is the meeting of the minds, so to speak. You are connected to people all over the world, many of whom have completely different opinions than you, and you can choose whether or not to listen to/read what he or she has to say.

Which brings me to another point: why in God's name are you on anon's f-list if she doesn't like what you write? Why doesn't she fill her f-list with things she wants to read? Is she, like, masochistic? Because really, there's a very easy solution to your amazing boyporn and/or opinions offending her delicate sensibilities...

People are so wierd. *grin* I love it.

Sasuke was so out of it at that point I don't think he'd have reacted if Jiraiya had glomped him then. A better example of that sort of thing would be that he helped Naruto back to Tsunami's house during the Wave Arc.

I'm not denying that Sasuke likes Sakura. Sasuke knows what it's like to feel like you're not up to par. I think he has sympathy for her in that regard. But again, I don't think it's anything romantic. Plus, the bench thing is kind of silly. Sasuke isn't completely heartless. It would take a special kind of person to leave their friend lying in the road. Hell, for that matter, he could have done it simply to avoid being followed. A girl "sleeping" on a bench looks a lot less suspicious than one lying in the road.

Now, if I were to argue that Sasuke has romantic feelings for anyone (not that I am), I would say that you should look at his mental collage of his fond memories of Naruto when Naruto asks why he saved him. The kiss scene is in there. Now, why might Sasuke look back on that with fondness? He also leaves Naruto alive when he has a very good reason not to. Only later when he's trudging away does he decide, "Itachi, I'm not gonna be like you!", which imples some sort of deep feeling, romantic or otherwise. Let alone the Sakura/Naruto rival comment in the Kishimoto interview.

You seem to think I'm arguing for NaruSaku or something. I'm not. For that matter, I'm not arguing NaruSasu, either. I think they're equally implausible, albeit for different reasons.

It never fails to amuse me, the lengths people will go to, to bring someone else down. Like they have nothing better to do then to attack someone's interests just because they differ from someone else's. There's obviously some bad parenting involved in that girl's life - I know my mother always taught me' if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.' Someone needs a spanking, and NOT in a good way. ^^

I dunno if it's sad or strange or what, but when Troll-chan said writing smut for a "comic aimed at 12-year-olds" is pathetic, I immediately thought in response "They think that's bad? Obviously they haven't heard of Rainbow Brite porn."

Ma'am, I just want to say I'm so sorry about Ms. Anonymous. I'm absolutely mortified at her behavior as a human being, and on her behalf I'd like to apologize for being an utter ass about something so trivial. Though I can almost guarantee she will continue to bitch and moan for a very long time and ignore the fact that despite the most well-written, well-intentioned argument, trying to turn someone from their 'ship is like trying to move a mountain with your bare hands, all I can offer you is my sincerest apology. I truly, truly hope she will find the humility to roll over and die in the next hour or so, but until then, I am so sorry.

[identity profile] j-ecrirai.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear Anonymous,
I completely agree that based on the evidence given in the manga, and the anime (depending on which you take as canon) there is very little encouragement for either the NARSAK, SASSAK, or NARSASSAK (or however you wish to organise the names)relationships. None the less, I feel you have failed to understand a key point with 'shipping' as it is called. Asuka is a 'shipper', everyone on this site is a 'shipper', that means we promote and prefer certain relationships between characters chosen from a source of fiction.

Here I quote wikipedia, I have chosen wikipedia because 'shipping' is a very new term, there simply isn't a better explanation for this internet phenomena than the one found here. Of course I am quoting only a small part of the actual entry, but it is this sentance which I believe most directly address' your issues.

Quote
"Shipping can involve virtually any kind of relationship — from the well-known and established, to the ambiguous or those undergoing development, and even to the highly improbable and the blatantly impossible. People involved in shipping (or shippers) assert that the relationship does exist, will exist, or simply that they would like it to exist."

I would like to draw your attention to the parts which clarify that the 'shipper's' chosen 'ship' can be "blatantly impossible" and can be no more than what "they would like to exist."

For a shipper, the likelihood of their 'ship' becoming canon is not important, the vital thing is that they believe and that they can convincingly portray that 'ship' in their own world.

Each annd every 'shipper' has chosen the characters they prefer and joined them romantically as they have wished. There are of course 'shippers' who 'ship' better than others, and relationships which are easier to accept than others.

Your problem with Asuka's stories seems to be that you cannot accept the possibilty of a NARSAS or NARSASSAK relationship. This is your choice, perhaps you see other relationships as more likely,in which case feel free to 'ship' it, but don't try and critise another's chosen fandom because they are circular arguments as noone is pretending that these stories are canon.

Good 'shippers' collaborate with what is canon, using loopholes, missed scenes, unexplained ambiguities, in short the endless possibilities of what might be to create their version of the original fictional world. Bad 'shippers' give no explanation of how the characters come together, and most of the time do not even bother to keep the characters, in character.

There are many ways that a 'shipper', or fanfic writer as they're often called, can leave 'canon'. Often a writer choses a moment in the story and says 'what if this did or didn't happen, what would the characters do?' Sometimes they choose to focus on minor characters, inventing lives and troubles for these otherwise 2 dimensional creatures.

A very popular way of leaving canon, without leaving canon, is to write a continuation fic. these fics continue after the official ending of a popular piece of fiction. For a more mainstream example of this we can use the thousands of Star Wars novels which have been written around the movies.

To add to the complexity of this phenomena, we have the AU stories. These 'Alternate Universe' stories can be the bane of all 'shippers' as they almost always go wrong. The original characters are taken and placed into a completely new environment to play out the original story with new twists. Sometimes this is done very well, with solid characterisation and believable translation of key story points, often this is not the case.

Obviously I have only scratched the surface of the entire 'shipping' universe, but I hope that now you understand a little better the world into which you have unwittingly stumbled. If reading the results of some individual's admittedly overheated, wild imagination bothers you, I invite you to leave by the door (don't let it hit you in the butt on the way out), but if you think you might like to check around and find some 'shippers' that 'ship like you', come on in - the water's fine.

[identity profile] viper-s.livejournal.com 2007-04-09 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
May I just say, thank you. You have made the internet a better place, even if only by a small margin. It's people like you, people who are open to explaining, understanding and calmly pointing things out that may have been overlooked, that make the world of fanfiction, shipping and forums an easier and nicer place to spend one's free time.

So, thank you for saying things in an articulate and patient manner, you have this internet user's gratitude.
