No argument about the paradigm shift! Killing Itachi now, as you said, would mean that Itachi would control him forever.
But what I meant was... Sasuke is good at fighting in semi-tandem with his team. Take the fight against Zabuza - no time to talk, and he still manages to read Naruto's plan and work along with it. And the fact that Sasuke is willing to let Orochimaru take over means that he is willing to accept outside help, rather than I Must Defeat My Brother Alone. So I can see him accepting the help of his old team, simply because that is better than letting Orochimaru possess him and, oh, by the way, it's a way he can go back to the people he loves while still defending his pride, but we won't talk about that bit. ^_~
