OH GOD CHAPTER 307

I have such a hard time being coherent and intelligent right now. I just. I just.

oh fuck i missed you and your bastardy denial ways so much, you cranky, overdramatic son of a bitch.

... I don't care what "official" pairing this ends up being; if anyone tries to tell me that Kishimoto doesn't secretly ship NaruSasu, I will laugh in their face.

Also, Sasuke is so, so, so, SO gay.

poor sakura. ;_; but hey!! he mentioned kakashi. and he's all "pshah! about sai being his replacement.

It doesn't surprise me actually that he would come across as emotionally numb. I think for the longest time he's only been allowing himself to feel anger and hate; hence why he'd get pissed fast, but pretend not to feel sadness or anything positive at all. Also, he wants to make them "aware" that he doesn't care anymore, because then they'll be clearly enemies. So long as he was still passionate about the two of them, they might feel encouraged.

Of course, it isn't some "yeah, I really couldn't care less about you" *hugs and chats for a while instead of just killing you cleanly like i would if you really were just an obstacle to me* that's gonna stop Naruto.

Now I want to write Sasuke-POV stuff about him so NOT chatting that long because he had missed his scent or something ridiculously denial-y sentimental like that.

I also wonder when Sakura will get to punch him in the face, but at the same time I like that right now, the Naruto/Sasuke interaction is the most important. Because back then, it was. (but I hope she doesn't go back into the background either.) argh, i can't decide if i want her to get involved right now or not. Either way, i'll be happy, i think. XD

(Sai's public speech about jesus!Naruto's awesomeness annoys the fuck out of me. he's become so bland and boring, urgh.)

Sasuke pulling out his sword like that is fucking sexy. *__* And the shadows under his eyes! T__T He's so gorgeous. So sexy. So mmmmng.

I spent that whole damn chapter yelling "Punch him! Punch him!" I mean, he's left his stomach open to Naruto and his side to Sakura. I'm really not picky about which one does it.

(I have no idea why I love Sasuke so much when I want to throttle him half the time. ¬_¬)

I'm not sure his emotional absence is totally denial, though--if he's been living like that for two and a half plus years, those emotions might have actually started to atrophy. (Though the fact that he was just standing around talking when an explosion like that was sure to attract the attention of Orochimaru and Kabuto and whoever else is there is a pretty clear sign that it's only partial at worse. I definitely agree about the obstacle part.)

It's just that, unless his self-control underwent some near-miraculous development, the only way I can imagine him able to be this calm through the whole talk is if he either was preparing for them to come for him--which is pretty likely, but I still think he would have stuttered for a second (though that might be what he did in those moments where Sakura was yelling at Sai and we never saw Sasuke's face)--or else he really has managed to kill that first layer of emotions.

Hopefully the fight between him and Naruto/Sakura/whoever else joins in is going to better than the recent ones, though. Kishimoto-sensei's really been shortchanging the battle side lately.

*Squeals* You are so fucking awesome! I would have only gotten the raw version! And he's prettier now then last chapter and OMFG They're TOUCHING!

I spent the entire time reading that chapter squeeing silently and hoping everything turns out like it does in the fics that I now think of as canon. -_-; I don't want Sakura to be left out cause you've got me all about the T7 love, but DAMN IT I wasnt Narusasu fight!sex. Nowish.

::squees again looking at the picture where Sasuke jumps down:: They're touching and it's Sasuke and you know he just jumped down cause he couldn't stand to be away any more and now he has to threaten Naruto to cover up the fact that he is wibbling and about to jump his bones at any minute and and and. OMG

And yes, Sai is boring. >.

OMG. I had a dream LAST NIGHT that I was reading this chapter, and in it Sasuke came down and hugged Naruto.

And that Naruto was pissed that Sasuke was taller them him, since he just got taller them Sakura.

Also, I knoew he wouldn't like Sai replacing him, and that he would get the wrong idea. "You replaced me with that?

That he's probably to hurt and offended to listen to them if they tried telling him that it was really not their choice.

Sai doesn't help matters with his 'omgilovenaruto' deal.

I am in COMPLETE denial about Sasuke being taller. I mean, they're only fifteen ~~and the Yondaime was tall so~~ Naruto still has some growing to do. THAT'S MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT. Hmph.

Also the fact that Sasuke still has the Uchiha crest on his shirt thing amuses me.
Sasuke: I may have betrayed my village, my friends, and my life but I'm still and Uchiha DAMMIT.

Other than that ... I'm really 'Buh?' about Sasuke's personality. It's like I should understand it but I think I'm missing something. I wonder though if he really could kill Naruto now. I don't mean physically capable of uping Naruto but mentally/emotionally.

Methinks we're all missing something... but that could be wishful thinking. ^_^ I will admit that the Uchiha crest thing amused me - not that it doesn't make sense; he IS still an Uchiha, loyalty to Konoha has nothing to do with that whatsoever - but because... he only had the one shirt when he left, and it got wrecked.

Which means he's had to make (and probably sew on) the crest himself. And that's just a funny mental image. :-P

I personally think that ~~the stoner~~ Sasuke has lost all his emotions, and after Sakura has punched him to get Naruto out of his grip, Naruto will use his Jesus powers.

Because Sai has made me very cynical about the Naruto storyline D:

I personally enjoy how pissed Sasuke is over Sai being his replacement. Especially when Sai is not horribly all that different from him in looks. Kinda like when the boy I loved denied me but then went and dated all these girls that looked just like me.

I am thinking about the parallels of the Naruto-Sasuke relationship to another important relationship of Sasuke's now - that to his brother. The role his brother played for him he plays now for Naruto. For Sasuke Itachi was always the cool one, the genius, the one whose attention he strived for. He can not fight this feeling and this bond even now. He was an obsession. The kind of obsession Naruto has now for Sasuke. For Naruto Sasuke is the cool genius for whose attention he yearns. And his most important person (the first bond he was able to create as he says in chapter 307).

Further parallels are for example the stand-offs. Sasuke has seen Itachi after a long abscence and Itachi has spoken quite sexily to Sasuke's neck. Now Sasuke does the same to Naruto after a long abscence.

Then the whole "I didn't kill you although I could" thing. Itachi didn't kill Sasuke (because of a whim?). Sasuke didn't kill Naruto. Does this signify that the remains of their last bonds struggling to survive? Or is this another requirement for the Mangekyou Sharingan (to kill not because of the necessity to kill your best friend for the Mangekyou but to be able to kill on a whim)?

I would really appreciate it if someone of the good writers out there would make it into an essay or write a nice angsty story about it. (hint, hint)

I have to say that I agree with you Asuka, Kishimoto IS shipping NaruSasu, after all Sasuke is hugging Naruto and he cannot admit why he did not kill naruto XD

...Emotionally numb? That's not quite what I got. He's surprised that Kakashi isn't there. His expression gets so SOFT when Sai is talking about the team bond they had... He's just very controlled. Which makes sense, he knew this was coming. He's probably known this day would come from the minute he walked away from Naruto after the battle.

Completely with you on the 'wants to make them REALIZE that he doesn't care anymore' bit, though. Although... does anyone else feel like something's NOT getting said but is still understood between him and Naruto at the moment?

Anyone else get the impression that he's stalling for something, with all these long, dramatic gestures?

How I read it: "Even though, if you had the time to chase me around, you should have been training/you'd have been better off training..."

Oooh, Thank you for the better translations. I'd been lookign at those lines going... "bwuuuh?" Alhtough it is possible to infer the meaning of thelines from pages 11 and welve if you compare it with the chapters from before the timeskip...yeah. A decent translation is better.

Meep! No, Yamato good! Yamato actually TELLS people what's going on! He's the one who filled Naruto in on what Kyuubi does when he's berserking! (*mutters* Stupid Sakura. You don't lie about things like that to Naruto, he's the only one who can fix them! T_T I still love you as a brilliant character, but you lost points from me there...) He verbally smacked Naruto over the head with "If you want to see Sasuke again with your own eyes, save him with your power - not Kyuubi."

...Sorry. I'd been really, really ticked for chapters that Naruto was getting so dependent on Kyuubi's power, when what I liked about him was his innovation and unpredictability. Then Yamato came out and said that, and, well... Let's just say that, while I don't normally hold with fangirling, I was about ready to squee. And coming from me, that says a lot.

Yamato-taichou needs more love. ;_;

Kakashi is good, Kakashi is fun. But I still really, really like Yamato. For one thing, he's coming across as vastly more stable than Kakashi, to me. And for another, I love his reactions.

Sasuke, there's a big, obvious flaw in your plan here. There's four of them, and one of you. Do you really expect that they won't intervene to save Naruto? It's enough to make one think that you want to get your ass kicked, and this little act is just to give them a reason to beat the living crap out of you.

Unless he really is that good. Remember, Orochimaru said Sasuke was a Danger even to him.

And Sasuke has the Sharingan, fully evolved, and no doubt mastered by now. Not just 'I got it! Letxs experiment!' That makes him a difficult bastard to deal with.

And if you remember, Orochimaru took on both Jiraiya and Tsunade without the use of his own ARMS. Sure, Jiraiya was still drugged.

But man, Sasuke could reall just be incredibly good. Especially if Naruto doesn't have Kyuubi-power to rely on like he did at the Fight in the Valley of The End.
