Naruto anime: episode 173~

... ONLY SIX WEEKS LEFT BEFORE THE END OF THE FILLERS.

Yessssss. WE CAN DO IT.

As for the anime, eh, it was better than the last one. And with it, the Sea Monster arc ends. From the previews, the next one promises to be particularly plotless, ridiculous and all-around sucky. =_=

-this episode still has meh art (wtf, Naruto gets a super-saiyajin-afro-bushy-thing when he "powers up". Where are his spikes?), but is redeemed somewhat by having a cool Kyuubi-eye moment to use in AMVs. (EXCEPT I STILL CAN'T MAKE AMVs AAAAARGH. T_T) The fight scenes are also better -- it's more than just "charge, punch, kick, OHNOES KNOCKED BACK, charge again". Also whee for Gamabunta! ♥

-Ino saving Shino by quick thinking and judicious use of her mind transfer technique = cool (even if I got a little moment of "wait, does it really work like that?" but oh well). Ino squealing "wahhh don't come near me" when the baddie attacks, and then going "I'm saved" when Shino beats him = not cool. Still -- they make a good team.

-Ahahahaha. XD

bad guy: *looks all dramatic and evil* ... as long as the sea boss blahblah, you guys will always lose!!

-Kinda weird that suddenly, Naruto doesn't seem to need the Kyuubi chakra to summon Gamabunta... Oh well. Gamabunta = eeeeee. ♥♥♥

-Anko. ;________; *squish!* I like the resolution of her Orochimaru problem. bwee~ ♥ (thoguh zomg pedophiiiiile.)

+ShinoIno (eee, they work in tandem so well. Also he looks kinda squishy when he's tired and you can see his mouth. But!! nooo. My AnkoIno ;_;)
+Isaribi+Naruto... hmmm. Not really convinced, it's more siblingly...
+OroAnko, of course... (do I really need to say it. Every time Oro is in a scene with a young kid, he gives off The Pedo Vibes, even when he doesn't do The Tongue Thing -- which he did. Doesn't help that Anko was kinda boyish.)
+And NaruIno!! X3 *squee* She's all "whee happy you're alive" and he's all *blushgrin* ♥. Aww.

... I still like AnkoIno better. è.é Yep, that was this arc's ship for me. XD

Goddamnit Isaribi, you're not canon and I don't even like you so much, don't start bugging me about scenes with Tsunade, Shizune and Sakura kplz. I'm not writing stuff for you. è.é (though okay, maybe you can finish Sasame's job on Sakura. "Why, yes, you do have lesbian tendencies, Sakura-chan." Wait, no, I'm not sure Isaribi feels lez to me. Contrary to Sasame who even managed to ping Sakura's radar even through her denial. Hrrrm. *will have to ponder more*)

Still a mixed bag, but yeah, this episode had it's moments. The Kyuubi!Naruto eyes and Anko's piece were really good. Anko's piece had a canon-y feel to it. Nice. ^^

...and I'm learning how to do the clipping thing! Happy. I should go pratice on Anko's piece.

That's awesome. I misspelled my own nickname. In RL, my initials are KK. But my first name is Hawaiian...I guess it throws people off, so they came up with Crystal. Which became Krystal a few months ago when someone said it'd be cooler to have the name also begin with the K....

Little Anko was wearing fishnet stockings. I saw those and immediately thought 'God, child, Orochimaru doesn't need help being how he is.'

I was so happy with their last scene. Really, all the interaction and hints were great, but that part made the whole arc worth watching. Thanks for telling about it--I wouldn't have known otherwise. *grin*

ahaha, yes. But on her, the stockings looked more like a cutesy thing than a "whee, i'm hawt and perverted" thing. Though i see she kept them. (seriously, how do her boobs NOT sag? There's nothing under the fishnet shirt to hold them in place!! they should be bouncing all over -- also, oww thick threads rubbing against her nipples. She'd get sores or even cuts, after a while.)

yessssh ~ it was all "zomg that could actually happen in canon". so happy with that part of the arc. *squishes you*

I'm convinced she has little bandages over her nipples or those tape-on cup bras under that shirt. She doesn't seem like a masochist to wear it totally bare, especially since she's not exactly an A-cup.

(I viewed the stockings as more trying to be grownup than cutesy, but I blame Loveless for that. Loveless and Orochimaru. Because, really, that covers everything.)

what I wonder is how her coat always falls right to hide it. maybe it's pinned to the shirt. *ponders*

I figure that well-endowed kunoichis use their chakra to hold their breasts in place, because there is just no other way Tsunade could pull off the taijutsu moves she did in eps 92 through 96 without causing herself injury.

...OMG CRACK THEORY. Tsunade became a mednin so she could heal her chest injuries after doing taijutsu XP

*snicker* You know, I had the same thought myself when I saw her taking on Oro. I think that's part of her power (I actually wrote 'pert of her power' there and corrected); guys stare at her thinking there's no way she'd be able to even move with those jugs, much less kick ass.

They seemed to be trying to save their sorry asses from the last episode with the fighting scene. I admit to have laughed at Gamabunta + Sea water because. Ah. I did a major wtf at Ino when she needed saving, also. As for her jutsu -- it's the new one, right? The one we only saw her father use so -- since it's mind confusion, I don't know. I think it's meant to be controlling somebody from afar, making it easier then the mind control thing and uh. Less. Dangerous?

... But really, I spent the entire Orochimaru/Anko scene going on about how much Orochimaru was a pedophile. That man will always be freaky XD

Actually... I don't think Naruto does need Kyuubi chakra to summon Gamabunta... Waaaay back in his fight against Gaara after the chuunin exams he summons Gamabunta to fight againt tanuki!Gaara. Yet, at the end of the fight, when Gaara has him in the desert coffin thing, he calls on Kyuubi. ("I'm beggin' you... All I need is a little bit.. Give me enough so I can protect everyone.. your chakra" - vol. 14 chapter 136)

From that I assumed that he hadn't been using Kyuubi's chakra before that, but rather, just his own.

Hmm, you might be right. It's been a while since I watched that episode, so I don't remember where he was taking his power from.

(still, i can't help but find it cheap, to see naruto pull out immense power from nowhere for people he barely knows. There was a time he only used to pull it out for his teammates and his loved ones. ;_;)

That thinks use of Kyuubi in filler should be a big no no...

Especially when you reveal truths to characters we're not sure of knowing if they actually know the truth in canon...?

And by the way... how is the "Naruto left for 2.5 years, welcome back" thinkg gonna fly, if he's been in every filler since the beginning? :scratches head:

As for the time period, we don't really know how long these missions really took -- but maybe it's no more than, say, two months. they can always pretend that the 2,5 year is actually a little shorter than that. Won't make much of a difference. ^^;

Is that " ^^; " a "Let's just go with it , and hope it works" or a "Let's just hope for the best, they've already ruined our lives as it is, it can't get much worse?"

Wasn't there a gap in the last chapter before Kakashi Gaiden started that said three months had passed between when Naruto came back from the fight with Sasuke and when he left to start his training with Jiraiya? I'd just assumed that all the fillers had been happening during then. (Though they'd still probably need some kind of ninja time-turner to pull it all off.)

Mmmmh Neji... I have to write another Neji fic. Was so disappointed when he reappeared post-timeskip, just to fade in the background without much real interaction with Naruto. ;_;

Yeah, finally watched it. I agree that Ino's 'OMG defend me I'm just a helpless gurl' moment was, um, bad, especially since she'd just pulled off something nice before. But having Anko stare at her younger self in that house actually gave me chills. And a little detail but...seeing how the fillers have been going so far, I was expecting Sister Fishsticks (I can't remember her name, so sue me) to stay in her village while the villagers realized she wasn't a monster and that everyone is due love and understand and blah. Having her leave was sort of a nice touch, because it made sense and didn't call for much overwhelming compassion on the part of human nature.

Man, those fillers have lowered my expectations...I WANT MY TIMESKIP GAARA NOW!!

Ino was a tiny bit OOC. Not bitchy enough. Not that she has to be the bad kind of bitchy, but she's been shown to be a girl who doesn't hesitate to comment out loud about stuff, and in this arc she's been shown to be a good ninja, quick to think on her feet. Seeing her so scared about hand-to-hand really made me twitch.

Sister Fishsticks. XD Isaribi! Yes, i liked that too, that naruto didn't magically fix their bigotry. What I didn't really like, was that she magically went from a wary, depressed girl who was willing to blind herself to some bad stuff so long as she was saved, to yet another generic "ahah i'm ballsy now because naruto gave me his verbal bashing of justice!" kind. Sure the very point of her character was having naruto change her, but. I don't know. she was too... generic.
