Yeah, people who insist that their interpretation of canon is correct like that are stupid and/or immature.
However, it should be noted that as the dub version gets farther along, we should expect to see more people insisting things that seem dumb to us because they might have been changed in the dub. Like, I heard the dubbers made Haku a girl. Meaning, they'll probably make Yashamaru and Deidara girls too. Not that I really blame them, seeing as most American teenagers wouldn't understand (It looks like a girl, it acts like a girl, it sounds like a girl and they're saying it's a boy? WTF!? Is what they'd think- When I was watching my fansubs and Kakashi said Haku was a boy it sure gave me quite a turn) It's going to cause some misunderstanding, with the English language fandom going from four different versions of canon (the scanlated manga, the fansubbed anime, the Viz translated comic, and the dubbed anime).
