man, you all must be getting really tired of me by now. XD (not as much as i'm getting tired of coming all the way here just so i can play on the computer -- but then, hey, i'm actually paid to be here, so whatever. XP
Well, like most of my bunnies its malformed, and has no legs. but yeah.
I want a Neji/Naruto team, like long established since Sasuke left. And Sasuke came back but went ANBU, and wasn't in a team with Naruto anymore, and the team became Naruto/Neji.
And they've been working together for like 5 years? And work well, and then Sasuke has to work with them. Sasuke with a bunch of ANBU at his comand I imagine- or Sasuke because a certain skill is required. And Sasuke has problems.
With Naruto. He can't handle the fact that Naruto trusts him. So hes all edgy and cold, and defensive around Naruto. And Neji notices this when Naruto /doesn't/ And so its about -meh - its about Sasuke dealing with Naruto. And naruto-and-Neji I think it might have a bit of Naruneji established in there, and might end up NaruNejiSasu.
All this stemmed from when I imagined Naruto saying "Neji is my chakra repairman" in my head. Because when Naruto uses Kyuubi, the Kyuubi's chakra burns open extra chakra paths, which means when Naruto tries to channel his own chakra it gets spread out too much and he isn't using it to his optimum capability. So neji helps him by closing up all the surplus pathways. Hence the chakra repairman. It hurts like a bitch though.
Ooooh and I had all these little touches thought up ;;. Like Neji tells Sasuke the best thing that happened to him was getting beaten by Naruto. And I want Naruto to beat Shika at chess or something, so that Sasuke sees Naruto is still being underestimated and still winning anyway. (through luck XD). And also Naruto saying that now Neji could beat him easily because he knows Naruto's chakra pathways so intimately he knows which Naruto uses the most and could just close them off, instead of wasting time on all the others.
And something about, letting someone that close to you- Sasuke thinks it is dangerous, and Naruto just explains to him that if you let someone that close, it is showing them you trust them never to turn on you. And goes all sad- because he let Sasuke that close, and Sasuke turned on him.
I WANT THAT OHGODPLEASE I WANT. this is the bestest idea you ever had since Worth and So. *rolls over and begs* I love it all -- sasuke being wary and all post-betrayal-y, and the naruneji team, and if you could make this narusasuneji i'd love you forever -- but i'd also love it if it ends up narusasu, so long as neji doesnt lose his place close to naruto. it's so-- ahhh.
He liked to think it was practicality and not nostalgia that drove him to wait there. The bridge was close to the entrance of Konoha, and equidistant from both Naruto’s scruffy little flat and the Hyuuga compound. Despite staying in opposite corners of town, Sasuke knew Neji and Naruto would arrive together.
Sasuke wondered what they would say.
He imagined they already knew they were working with him, that they had probably known longer than he had. For the first time since he had returned to Konoha- for the first time since he was a child- Sasuke considered running away.
He had known it would be difficult integrating himself into any jounin 2 man team. The jounin of Konoha had been working together in those teams for 5 years, or even longer for the veterans- and Sasuke knew that while he had been moving his way up the ranks of ANBU alone, each team had been moulding themselves into a perfectly working unit. Naruto and Neji were no exception.
They even walked in step. Sasuke could tell- his eye trained to see such things- that Naruto was extending his stride to fit with Neji’s slightly longer legs. Neji too was curbing his own steps, so that they walked perfectly level- perfectly equal.
No team was perfect, Sasuke knew that. But Neji and Naruto gave a good impression of perfection. Sasuke turned his head to stare at the river, reminding himself steadily that his mission was to work with the two other jounin- not try and find the flaws in their teamwork.
“Uchiha.”
It was Neji who greeted him first. Naruto looked vaguely awkward rubbing his nose, blue eyes cast down. Sasuke turned and bowed slightly, feeling the reassuring slide of his mask against his shoulder; his blade against his hip.
“Hyuuga, Uzumaki.”
He had set the standard- using family names. Naruto however was never one to follow standards.
“Yo Sasuke. Eaten any babies today?”
When Sasuke looked up the blond was winking. A joke. He flinched.
“No. Not yet.”
Naruto laughed, white teeth flashing, but Neji just stared at Sasuke, pale eyes oddly sharp.
-------
“Scout teams have last sighted them moving east across this ridge, near the coast.”
Sasuke dragged his finger across the ragged line on the map indigating the ridge. Naruto estimated it was about 2 days walk away, one day if they ran. He also estimated that Sasuke was angry. Or upset. Or nervous.
Naruto remembered enough about Sasuke to know that they all appeared the same on the outside.

i like the idea. *__*
They even walked in step.
did i tell you how much i love it when sasuke angsts because he does not belong, especially since it's his own fault in the first place? yeah. I love.

bet he will anyway. heh. jeaaalous.

it sounds like he's joking i bet, but deep down, i bet sasuke's not sure he is. *petpetloves*

now gimme more. I need more awkwardness and we-mus--work-together-even-if-it-KILLS-us-ness. like NOW.
stupid biatch is thinking im her net teacher again. rargh.
As Sasuke outlined the last movements of the targets in a dull, uninterested voice, Naruto wondered if Neji had noticed. It was a stupid question. The other man was observant to a fault, and had probably picked up on it the moment he first saw Sasuke. It was something to keep in mind.
Naruto was used to working with someone who understood him. He wasn’t sure if Sasuke had /ever/ understood him- but if he had it must have been a very, very long time ago.
“The fifth ANBU team picked up information in the wind continent that they were headed somewhere in this mountain range here.”
Naruto frowned and estimated again. Five days, Perhaps 3 at a run if that open area was grassland and not a huge stinking marsh. He knew that Neji, pessimist as he was, would have a slightly longer guess, but in the end it was always half and half on who was right.
“6 days walk.”
Neji suggested gravely, and Sasuke nodded. Naruto scowled, only just preventing himself from rolling his eyes. Haveing two people so negative around was going to be depressing. They would probably moan at each other all day.
“So you want to intercept them in the mountains where the land is less open and an ambush is easier?”
Both Neji and Sasuke turned to look at Naruto as if they had forgotten he was there.
“Ideally.”
Sasuke said eventually, circling an area in the middle of a mountain range with his fingertip. His movements were calm, but his neck was awkwardly tight, his mouth set in a nevrous line. Naruto wondered if it was because of him. He had forgiven Sasuke- but it was easy to imagine someone like Sasuke having difficulty forgiving /him/.
I'm thinking Naruto only picks up on some things, and not others. :/ Not sure.
