oh joy, more Naruto fics
So I gotta finish teamwork. And work on garou and the beach fic for GW. So what do i do? Of course, I start a new fic instead.
Except not. Today, I started TWO fics. Just kill me.
Possession
Author: Asuka Kureru (from a plot created in collaboration with
kineko)
Fandom: Naruto
Lead character(s): Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi...?
Pairing(s): That's supposed to have hints of SasuNaru. Eventually.
Genre/warnings: angst, action, gore, dark, ANGST, violence, torture, insanity, gore...
Notes: Shoulda been writing that in collaboration with Kin, but she didn't have any free time. ::sigh::
Sasuke might have been brash and borderline suicidal, but he was far from stupid. When he heard Orochimaru-sama and Kabuto laughing about Konoha managing to "lose the Kyuubi-possessed brat to Akatsuki", it didn't take him more than a few seconds to link the survival of the demon fox and his ex-teammate's extraordinary endurance and unending power. And his red, cat-slit eyes. Sasuke wasn't about to forget these eyes, no more than he would forget any second from their last confrontation.
Somehow, knowing that his rival took the power to challenge him from a demon and not from himself didn't make Sasuke feel any superior, any better about himself and the way he'd almost lost to him. That was cheating, really. Naruto had only caught up so fast because he'd been cheating.
Meaning that Sasuke -- Uchiha Sasuke and his "genius" title and his bloodline ability that should have assured his irrevocable superiority -- hadn't been as weak and slow to progress as he'd believed, meaning that he'd been provoked into deserting for -- no, not for nothing. Focusing on that "cheating" was too close to whining and regretting his decision, and he didn't. Because Orochimaru had given him power, a power that he would have needed years to obtain under Kakashi's command. And he didn't have years to spare. It would be foolish to assume that while he trained and progressed, Itachi sat on his ass to wait for him, not bothering to practice. If Sasuke didn't hurry, if he didn't take all the available shortcuts, he would never catch up.
He wouldn't go far either if he let himself get distracted by thoughts about his former teammates. So Naruto was the Kyuubi. That explained why Itachi had barely given him a glance to go after that idiot instead. Sasuke doubted Naruto would ever join Akatsuki though. He was way too loyal -- a little like a dog. So fucking clingy and stubborn.
But from the way Orochimaru and Kabuto were talking, getting Naruto to join wasn't exactly what Akatsuki had in mind. Akatsuki was about to employ a shortcut of its own by tearing the demon fox out of his former teammate.
Of course, preventing Itachi from using all that raw power was just as important as training himself; he already had a long way to go, even with the harsh training and all the forbidden jutsu he'd been taught, there was no way he'd let that psychopathic bastard of a brother make it even longer.
About fifteen minutes after he'd heard that conversation, he was on his way out, barely bothering to grab his backpack. There was no way for him to really slip his leash, not while still wearing the curse seal, but he would resist the pull as long as he needed to, to distract Akatsuki, to make sure that Naruto escaped without giving his brother what he wanted.
Maybe, if he plotted things right, he wouldn't even have to face him.
He refused to wonder if the him referred to his brother or his former best friend.

Title: (no title yet)
Author: Asuka Kureru
Fandom: Naruto
Lead character(s): Naruto, Neji, Sasuke
Pairing(s): NejiNaruSasu ( yay!! Gay threesome! X3)
Genre: some gore, some action, romance, getting-used-to-you-ness
Warnings: Uhh. Poor Sasuke?
Notes: yet another fic idea I caught from
kineko. Damn you, Kin, always inspiring me. XD
The mission had been a disaster from the start, from the second he'd learned who he had been assigned to work with. It was already hell to have to get used to other teammates; after all that time with them, Tenten's discrete fangirling over pretty, dark-haired boys and lack of true fighting instinct and Lee's annoying habit to randomly challenge him and total inability to use anything but taijutsu felt normal, expected; he compensated for these faults like they compensated for his aloofness and his pride, and the three of them knew exactly how to play off each other's strong points, what to expect and how to mesh together to overcome obstacles. During a mission, he could tell exactly where they would be and what they'd be doing at any given second.
But they weren't his teammates any longer. Tenten was not on the active ninja list anymore. She was preparing her marriage to some guy her family had chosen for her and was expecting to be pregnant before next year; a waste in his opinion, but while dedicated, she never had possessed that drive to reach the heights that Lee and Neji shared. And Lee... Lee was going to be one of the strongest genin in existence, but he would never be anything but a genin. The new guidelines for the chuunin test made mastery of ninjutsu and gengetsu a requirement.
So Neji had to continue on alone, and at first he didn't mind; solo missions could be challenging too, and the jounin test could be passed alone. But the best -- most dangerous -- missions were always given to teams of three or four, and he had no team anymore. And he'd been growing so restless that when the Hokage had proposed to integrate him into another team for a B-rank mission, he hadn't thought long before saying yes.
And then, coming for the briefing, he'd met Naruto and Sasuke. And then he'd reviewed his expectations.
Naruto he could work with, he knew, even despite the guy's brash, loudmouth tendencies. He was powerful, reliable, had a strong spirit, and Neji respected him. But Sasuke... Sasuke.
Sasuke was, to put it plainly, someone Neji wouldn't turn his back on even if said someone had both arms broken. Sasuke had betrayed them once before, and hadn't seemed that appreciative when Naruto had dragged him back home. He was also cold, uncommunicative -- which Neji himself was, but there was a darker, more malevolent quality to Sasuke's aloofness -- not that cooperative, and tended to get sarcastic and even insulting with Naruto, which Neji didn't like. Naruto deserved better treatment, but Sasuke always treated him as if Naruto wasn't worthy of an ounce of respect.
And yet Naruto and Sasuke had been in the same team for five years now, since they'd been twelve, and Neji didn't like the idea of being the outsider, the one who didn't know how things were done. That had been the first hint that the mission wouldn't be easy. But there were no other openings to get in a team and it was the two male members of Team Seven or solo missions.
Yes, he'd been almost certain that it was going to -- to say it bluntly -- suck like an old, toothless prostitute.
But right now, hiding in between a dumpster and a pile of broken wood, with his hands red and wet with Uchiha's blood, he was positive.
This was officially the most disastrous mission of his life.
Beside him, crammed in the little hidey hole with him, amidst the rubbish and the cockroaches, was Sasuke. His skin was an unhealthy white and the front of his shirt hung off his arms; Neji tore it off as silently as possible to try and staunch the rivulets of blood making their way through the ravaged flesh of his back. He had never heard of the ninjutsu that had caused that, had barely had the time to dodge himself -- Kaiten had only deflected it, it didn't block it cleanly -- and Sasuke... Well, Sasuke's back was now so much raw flesh. But better his back than Naruto's face; Naruto may heal fast but Neji didn't want to know if that regenerative ability extended to his eyes and throat.
A fly buzzed over Neji's ear and he swatted at it, frowning. It was trying to land on Sasuke's back, which was still bleeding steadily. And of course Neji had never thought to keep enough salve and bandages in his little pouch to cover so much skin.
In the end, he did as much as he could without breaking cover, sacrificing his own shirt and trying not to think too hard about all the filth surrounding them. Sasuke -- stubborn, annoying bastard -- had refused to pass out all the way, and deciding that the little whimpers he couldn't help but make while Neji applied salve were too dangerous, Neji ended up knocking him out.
Once he was finished, he leaned back against the dumpster, trying to move his legs a little without disturbing Sasuke. The space was narrow and he couldn't use genjutsu to make eventual onlookers not notice a foot sticking out from behind the pile of garbage. Not that it would have been such an uncommon event in this part of town, from what he'd seen on his way there. But use of any chakra here -- well, they'd been fine in the town up until Naruto had used a kage bunshin. And then they'd been attacked. The enemy obviously used ninjas too, which they hadn't been warned about. Missing-nins, because Neji couldn't find a Hidden Village headband on any of them.
When Naruto dropped from the roof of the building, Neji's mood had grown so dark he almost threw a kunai at him from pure annoyance. The blond ninja still had a shirt on, though bloodied from carrying Sasuke part of the way; Neji was mildly jealous. It was chilly in the dark, damp backstreets.
"No more patrols, but they're watching the main exits," Naruto whispered as he crouched down by the dumpster, turning so that he was back to it to watch the street. "No way to get him out. How -- is he...?"
"Alive." He didn't add 'for now,' though he wanted to. That would be needlessly cruel; Naruto was very worried, though he was doing his best not to let it show too much. "We need a secure location."
"There's lots of abandoned buildings there. I found one or two that could fit."
Naruto leaned over Neji's legs and gently tugged his trademark orange jacket out from under him. Sasuke gasped, even unconscious, and his breath hitched. The damp spot on the makeshift bandages widened a little. Biting his lip, Naruto tugged a bit more, then started to turn Sasuke, wrapping him in the jacket. Neji squirmed out from the corner and kept watch while Naruto lifted Sasuke carefully in his arms. There was a keening whimper as Sasuke's weight leaned fully on the arm Naruto had across his shoulder blades, and the blond cringed.
Neji frowned as he went to help Naruto wrap Sasuke's legs around his hips. Sasuke's dark head lolled back as he was shifted to a more vertical position, and Naruto hurriedly leaned back to prevent from having to tighten his hold. He was now almost off balance, Neji noted clinically, but it was the best way to carry Sasuke without touching his back too much. At least the salve was numbing his flesh, or he would probably be screaming. He tied the sleeves of the jacket under Sasuke's and Naruto's arms, behind Naruto's back, so that even if Naruto let go, Sasuke wouldn't fall very far, then spotting the headband, pulled it off quickly and stuffed it into his pouch with his own. The town didn't seem a good place for Konoha ninjas to be.
"Where to?" he asked softly, scanning their surroundings attentively.
"South," Naruto whispered, pulling Sasuke a little higher against his chest. "There's an old building that lost its first floor, but the third floor seems okay. There's no fire escape and the other buildings are a few meters apart, so no one could get in but us."
Neji nodded thoughtfully. Having lived in a family who had been shinobi for centuries, sometimes he tended to forget the limitations normal, untrained humans operated under. But...
"We'll need chakra to climb," he whispered back, frowning in thought.
"S'okay, I tested. Wall-climbing didn't attract any notice. Now you wanna try a Henge or a Kawarimi, it's another matter. I was -- waitasec, he's slipping -- I was targeted in under ten minutes when I tried."
Neji resisted the urge to whirl around and glower at Naruto. Trying something so dangerous, away from his teammates, when they didn't know what he was doing and couldn't have saved his ass in case he got caught? The idiot had probably thought he was doing the right thing, too, drawing them away from their hiding place.
Finally, they arrived to the dark, half-burned building, and after carefully checking, Neji scalded the wall quickly, using as little chakra as possible. The charred plaster was peeling off and there were cracks in the wall, but the roof seemed whole so far. More than half of the windows were broken, and there was a layer of dust on the floor that made the few rodent and bird tracks all the more apparent. A cat hissed at him and fled when he checked the cupboard for blankets, but the only one he found was rotting away and there were more holes than fabric. As for mattresses... yeah, right.
Scowling in annoyance, he went back to the window and jumped back out so he could climb under Naruto. The blond couldn't hold Sasuke and climb, and while they had tied his wrists around Naruto's neck and the jacket was still cradling him, the black-haired boy was heavy and very much unconscious. He wouldn't be easy to carry.
After five nerve-wracking minutes, Naruto and Neji managed to complete the slowest climb in History, deterred by the plaster turning to dust under their hands, Sasuke waking up and struggling, a group of passersby -- gang members, most likely -- strolling by just under them -- and the impossibility to get Naruto through the window while Sasuke was still tied to his chest like a baby koala clinging to its mother.
