ehh. it's a custom in Lyon, where i live. December 8 is the day of lights, in honor of the Virgin Mary who saved the town blahblahblah. Of course it's centuries old and now it's not religious at all anymore, just a Lyon tradition. Everyone in town puts little candles in glasses on their windowsills and there are light shows in the evening. It's really pretty ^__^
