VIRUS!!!

I got a fucking virus on my comp. DO NOT accept mails from me!! Do not send me files or anything of the sort. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it, but so far it's still here.

*HATES*

edit/ trojan downloader. And AVG couldn't do anything with it but move the infected files away. Now what? I don't even know if I NEED those files to make the computer work. And I can't even reformat and reinstall everything; I don't have the FUCKING WINDOWS XP CD!!! *HATES*

Did it give you a name? McAfee has a free downloadable program that cleans up a couple dozen of the most common viruses that are going around. It's called 'Stinger'. You might try that, it does the trick about half the time, if the virus is a newer one.

Well, it's worth a shot and certainly can't hurt. Here's the link to the download, you don't have to have McAfee to use it :

Another decent tool is 'Adaware' from Lavasoft; another piece of freeware, and it cleans up ad-ware and spy-ware :

I'm not sure what else to do without knowing just which trojan it is... with a name, you can search on most of the major anti-virus sites and get removal instructions.
Good luck!

you can also try the symantec online security check.... it will give you details about the virus that has infected your computer....

Oh my God, I have the same thing!! I've been infected for four days and AVG can't do anything. It's a trojan downloader called...turown.c or something, and no websites I go to to get rid of it have EVER heard of it. ::annoyed:: If I figure out how to remove it, I'll let you know, but don't hold your breath...I'm not as computer savvy as most people...

It just sent me one with your email address. I thought it was just a random bot. *hugs and comfort*

Ooh! I got it!

Hey! I got rid of mine! It depends on what kind yours is, because mine was a Trojan horse Downloader Turown.A, and I got rid of it by help of this website: http://www.faqfarm.com/Computer/Virus/11785

It'll only work if the file that is infected is C:\setup_td.exe:\files\td.exe, like mine had been. If that's the case, then you can get rid of it in under five minutes. ^^ Good luck!
