FIFTH REREAD REALISATIONS: From Karkat's POV, John snuck them into the bathroom of the purple and pink pilots; got cornered and ogled and lectured by the pink pilot; he was clearly uncomfortable from the start, before Rose was mentioned; and when she left John all but threw him out in his hurry to get away before she could bring the green pilot back. That, uh. That could be suggestive. o.O And now I'm curious whether 'stupid bad dumb' was his commentary on having a separate bathroom for boob-possessors, or on using the bathroom possessed by the highest-colour pilots...
as a pilot karkat wouldn't have to deal out hand to hand fighting anyway, or even firearms, he's not supposed to fight outside of his mech.
Ah, okay, cool! Explains, I guess, why he's not constantly reaching for a gun/sickle that's not there! And maybe it's another reason why pilots tend to be lower-blooded; highbloods might not want to give up their chance at indiscriminate face-to-face slaughter? (And also those who train them might not want to risk losing them to said slaughter...)
Dirk and Karkat have a convo about butts and who has the choicest (karkat's vote is either jake or jade. :X), and somehow Karkat relaxes because it's not that pale anymore.
Moirails don't talk about the butt, huh. :D But yay! for Dirk, he'll finally have someone to rate butts with! Since he probably can't do it with any seriousness with the other pilots.
Yeeeah, he's seeing that. XD He's also seeing that here he is, an alien who almost killed a lot of their guards, and they don't have fangs or claws and they're allowing him to go entirely free, even when they sleep around him
Hehehehe, I had a feeling. :D All other things considered, too... John walked up to his mech, smashed a hole in it*, dragged Karkat out and tied him up like there was nothing to it; that's gotta leave an impression. Particularly considering that the alien didn't even know for sure what kind of alien pilot he was up against, nor how much resistance the mech might have been capable of! (*granted, he mostly fell through it, but Karkat being half-unconscious probably couldn't tell how much smashing was involved.)
he's pretty much a little genius and it's kind of understood that he won't do maintenance all his life, he's just learning the ropes and then he'll go into inventing and designing new things
Yay for Equius getting to do stuff he likes! Also d'awwww! to choosing to follow his moirail. :D
Karkat was assigned as team leader several times based on his scores and half his troops undermined him at every turn by refusing to listen.
Ahhhh, so is this perhaps part of what he mentioned in his tumblr rant, about strategic retreats not being cowardice, etc.? Have they subtly or not-subtly abandoned him, or implied cowardice on his part to his superiors? (It's sometimes hard to tell what's Karkat's lack of ego reading into the actions of others, and what's genuinely the intent of others!)
Condie would REALLY not encourage anyone trying to figure out a way to breed without the Mother Grub, when the control of the Mother Grub is with G'lbgolyb what allows her such a tight-fisted control
This is a very good point. If there were a way to make trolls in a lab, you can bet some rebellion would get their hands on it and attempt to build an army (though if they couldn't also clone lusi, it wouldn't get far?), so it makes a great deal of sense that Condie would just stop that entire line of research dead rather than try to control it.
Instinctively trolls are as likely to be busybodies same as humans. It's embarrassingly nosy and weak-hearted from his part, though, as it runs against the species' ideal
Heh, this certainly jives with canon! Equius wants to steer Nepeta's interactions toward 'correct' trolls (almost acceptable, since she's his quadrant, though those other trolls aren't and she's not necessarily interested in them romantically); Kanaya's 'meddling' is made fun of and people use it to justify asking for, basically, one-night-stand ashen flings; Nepeta watches/attempts to predict the relationships of others, and is seen as 'silly'; Karkat's obsessed with fictional relationships and mostly also viewed as silly/having poor taste.
Mercy killing is a big thing in troll culture, it's seen as a moirail's duty to determine when the pain is too grave and they can't help anymore.
Well, hello, another one of my headcanons! I even wrote a snippet with two OCs involving this idea! So nice to run into you in Askerian's fic, again! :D
trolls who have camouflageable levels of PTSD (that's A LOT OF THEM)
Mmm, yes, I've often pondered just how widespread it is, given troll society/culture! Most of them probably have a start on it before they even leave the planet. *pats them*
they give you maybe a couple of weeks to see if you can get a handle on it
Egad. I believe it, is the sad thing, but -- a couple of weeks! Yeah, that's clearly a reasonable time frame! That's, like, they're being generous there, aren't they, by their standards; that's what really hits me. *too many feelings*
What's going on? What? What? oh god my poor brain.
Mwahaha, yes, I've assumed in my own head that, to trolls, lusus+quadrants is like bestiality, but if lusus is same species it can't be bestiality, so it has to be...? *head asplode* Poor Karkatbrain. Bestiality-that's-not, on top of everything else, is a LOT of new mental ground to cover!
(Hey, Karkat, maybe you were on to something with that diamond chain idea? Maybe human paps only go one way? Rose & Jade pap John, John paps Jade, Jade paps Jake...)
Now I'm picturing Karkat's hypothetical report someday, and the whole first page is one sentence written in gigantic bold font: ALIENS ARE TERRIBLE AT ROMANCE!!!! Actually, that might be the title, too.
Re: You asked for all the things! This may or may not be all
