uh yeah, there were several markers in the chapter that this was definitive, not-kidding dead death. like bird getting impaled symbolism and the end of chapter text having something about the death with !! instead of ?? and naruto being told that bringing in a medic nin would be useless because neji was already a goner, and then there's the fact that the village magically revived was done once already and would feel cheap as fuck to do again and cheapen everything.
