Oooh. I really like (well, not like like, in the sense of am happy about, but like in the sense of thinking it's in-character and needed to happen at some point) the argument between Karkat and Gamzee, particularly the way Karkat gets weirdly controlled when he's genuinely upset and furious, the way he won't let Gamzee pull an emotional blackmail stunt on him, and the way Gamzee so clearly has abandonment issues that are much more the point here than any rage issues -- the rage and threats are just the expression he defaults to.

I also like that Dave has Karkat so firmly slotted into "platonic annoyance" or some similar mental category that he can't see what Byrd sees in him... and really, Karkat does fit into that "petite, crazy, bulldozer" type Byrd was thinking about earlier when watching Jade and Terezi in the kitchen.

...

Something that hit me in the middle of the night, actually (yes, apparently I dream about your fanfic now O_o) is this: if Davesprite survived the game and got formatted into a more-or-less standard living human at the end, what happened to Jaspersprite and Nannasprite? (I'm assuming you're not dealing with the trollsprites from the recent updates.) Because wouldn't that mean Jaspers would be back as a normal cat and Nanna as a living woman? Or did they somehow not count because they were dead when they were prototyped, which alternate!future!Dave wasn't? (If he's the only surviving sprite, that might be an interesting source of angst for Byrd, come to think of it...)
