I think it helps to say that my first multipart in the GW fandom was a huge sprawling mosntrosity where Heero was a werewolf. XD I was always "heero is wolfish there should be wolf things." and then I wrote ofic based on the nonexisting sequel to that fic that was all about the military voluntarily inducing lycanthropy in their soldiers because that made them able to fight against X enemy, so the military introducing the animal part was there. And I've always loved telepathic packbonding! So when I read Dira's series it pretty much just snapped into place.
funny aside, but also kind of significant in terms of which matters more to the rest of the universe; colonists are less important than bondwolves. Hahaha XD yeah, there's some of them. there's also how after the war a lot of people have lost all track of their paperwork or their place of origin was destroyed so obtaining proof of birth is impossible, so they've legalized a lot of leeway into things. But wolves are supposed to be tracked via big centralized section things, and also the people who get them are usually more middle or high class and also there's the pack to keep track of each individual, so someone who has none of that t prove their belonging to at least one group is... really rare.
