It was fun that Karkat, although being the "alien", actually functioned somewhat as their straight man -- while still snarking like crazy and being crazy fun and, you know, maybe he wasn't the straight man after all. Maybe there was NO STRAIGHT MAN. And everything was awesome and crazy and fun ANYWAY. I bow to your mad skillz, I really do.
But John was really interesting here! I'd never thought there could be a blackrom involving him, cheerful dork that he is, but the way you wrote it here -- his partner hating him out of sheer annoyance and wanting to wipe that smile off his face and make him take them seriously -- the respect, the rivalry! It was great, and also a take on him I'd never seen before (although I mostly read your fics, but whatever, challenging yourself is good too).
Dave and Karkat, of course, were also great -- as always (like you could write either of them badly anyway).
