Territoriality: - Tell me about how things look from the pseudoelves' POV. The war, having to pause the war, or the weres in particular? XD The was they feel is revenge because their older kin (full elves) have been killed off or died of civilization for centuries and it's not even like they're the first species homo sapiens eradicates just by existing and like fuck they'll be ending up the same way. The weres, they find quietly horrifying. Even more than humans already are. Elves are telepathic/empathic/packbondy. Humans are very not, which contributes to them not feeling whlly sentient/alive to elves, but weres are... they SHOULD be communicable with but the only thing they communicate is "get the fuck out you stranger before i eat your face off oh hey i think i'm gonna do that anyway." There's no soothing/controlling a werebeast, the elves are not talking to the human, they're talking to the beast and the beast isn't interested in talking with rival predators, just in running them off/eating them.
- Who was the scientist (and/or their team) who came up with the idea of creating werebeasts? I have no idea if that's in my notes somewhere. Tyr's grand-uncle was involved, but rather periphically, more like in providing historical information of where you might find weres to ask them for their help. he was a historian, not a scientist.
- Did they capture natural!werebeasts and put them under observation? Did they carefully record the effects of various drugs on (either natural or created) werebeasts in a creepy Hojo-like manner? Nope, it was all done with volunteers. Full werebeasts don't do great at being soldiers on foreign soil because it disturbs the beast to be out of its familiar territory, they tend to just want to slink out and go back home. Also cats are better than canids at being without their own people but at the same time cats also suck at the hierarchy thing. But some of them still wanted to help and felt rather attached to humanity and all since, you know, being born one and all XD Also then they found some who were inmates and stuff and had a bit less choice, but they treated them fair as possible. Some experiments were fairly gruesome and some probably resulted in death, but werebeasts are REALLY hardy. there were likely a lot more psychotic breaks and mental fugues than deaths. I think the biggest number of deaths went to human volunteers for the suppressant treatment, since it wears on organs a lot and was probably hard to calibrate.
- What did they do with captured pseudoelves (What would a pseudoelf do in captivity)? War prisoners? they didn't tend to take a lot since it was a war of extermination for the greater part of the last five centuries, so since they could do the mind rape thing, unless they were going to be questioned for interrogation they were killed pretty quickly.
- Has Tyr or anyone in his pack been an under-cover pseudoelf? That's impossible. The only way you can pass is if you are one. I call them pseudoelves because they're actually crossbreeds of human and elf (or their parents were mixed, or their grandparents etcetera). It's a question of degree. The cutoff point is when you stop being able to do the telepathy thing.
At the beginning of treatment, for short periods of time, Gabe passed (he's one fourth; cue massive issues), but he really hated it and kind of radiated that all over the place, so... XD;;
Mermaids IN SPACE: - Does underwater music exist on Liadan's world? Sure, they sing a lot and do percussion and wind instruments. Strings are harder since most of what they could use would rot.
- Liadan's reaction to fire / lightning! They're both god miracles and to be admired and feared dutifully.
- What does Arun think of Liadan just calmly killing a fish or something and biting into it before he's even sure it's dead. He's a bit ewww about it. But she wouldn't anyway, she'd open it up to take out the entrails first. XD Also eww scales. (now what he'd do when she calmly kills people is another question. hahahahaha >D)
