When they were kids they interacted with civilians as no one knew what they were and their guardians were attempting the "let's pretend we're normal and ordinary and totally aboveboard and not doing anything skirting the edge of illegal" thing. Now they're pilots the civilians they accidentally meet tend to be brought in as aides or stuff like that for visiting politicians. It's possible they've met some who weren't briefed and didn't overhear about the age of the pilots, idk. The kids would have been pretty matter of fact about it. Sometimes when things are calmer a couple of them might be able to go to the mailand to watch a movie or do some shopping, and some of them probably chat with people online, they're not totally isolated. (they wouldn't tell online friends a lot about their actual lives though.)
