Man, I love everything about this. John being protective of Karkat, the human kids being a totally awesome family, language barrier highjinks, and everything else. It's also fascinating to be able to tell from context (even if John can't) what sorts of things are likely going through Karkat's head, and particularly how much he is probably trying to figure out the human caste system right now (I'm guessing he's decided purple means the same thing as back home, and it's not even like that'll lead him to too wrong a conclusion about Rose apart from the relative lack of murder).
