I don't think it's that big a deal if you take a break from Naruto. It's been going on for . . . well, I was in high school when I started watching and I've already completed undergrad, so a long time. It's to be expected that you might get tired of it.
I took a very long break from Naruto (at least four years) and when I've recently got back into it and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm even liking insane Sasuke (granted I'm mostly loling at the whole thing).
The flaws are still pretty much the same. Sakura's always been side-lined and that continues to be really annoying. I think she does more in the movies, believe it or not.
