I think people know it was Akatsuki but they don't know it was Itachi in particular. Only Kisame was around and Suigetsu didn't see anyone else when he was running off and I don't know if he told anyone or even went back to his village.
Since I made up the story way before Juugo ever appeared and I find the explanation for the curse seal a bit :/ I'm kind of on the fence on whether Juugo even exists in Teamworkverse. If he does, he's also likely dead by now; without anyone to control him, he'd let himself die rather than risk hurting people again. Karin's probably around but I have no idea if she'll ever appear. Seems like she'd have very little reason to be in/around Konoha or have any interest in Team Seven if she was.
