Jiraiya and Tsunade were actually not sure he was dead for a good long while; he just disappeared off the map, really, so it took a bit of looking around to make sure he was dead and hadn't just managed to slip away from Jiraiya's spy network. After that they were really rather emo, and spent an evening drinking and trying to convince each other that they were fine and had seen it coming for years and it wasn't a big loss really because there was no chance at all he would ever have repented. Not getting depressed as fuck over it and doing the "remember when..." game! Haha. ... waugh.
