XD re: feathers I don't know how much J managed to change them but yeah, he certainly hardened the roots at least so they wouldn't be torn off by fast flight. Mostly he went by the idea that the closest relatives of reptiles are birds, through dinosaurs who were kind of both, so he reactived/reinserted stuff in her genes.
