The anime is Jiraiya VS Pain at the moment and the scenes are really well-animated so far. Mmm, battles. *_* I love it when Jiraiya does his little jump-and-click-geta-together thing.

I like when Raikage looks coldly, calculating-ly pissed instead of ROAR HULK SMASH. (though the smashy thing is fun too. It's just we've been seeing it long enough already. >.>)

Whoa, it's surprising to hear Gaara mentioning Kakashi as "a shinobi I trust." (... i kinda thought he had a bit too much of a Naruto-tunnel vision to have even noticed him to be honest XD)

Now why on earth is Kankuro smiling and "uh huh"ing at Temari over this? XD

5. ... no, i'm sorry, even when it's hottittykage saying it, I just cannot take the name "mooneye operation" seriously.
Blahblah let's find Ninetails and Egithtails before the bad guy finds them and hide them away... no we should use them to fight...

6. And Gaara doesn't want to let his Naruto fight! We have to protect theeeeem because, um, surely Madara is doing that just to lure them out. Cause he's srsly lacking in manpower now. Yeah. >__> It's not because I'm worried for Naruto at all. Nooo.

I admit I got a kick out of Raikage going "I agree with the Kazekage." X3

Pshah, as if Naruto will agree to be protected and won't just go and attack on his own if people try to stop him. And from what we saw of Killerbee he's just the same. (I suspect that surviving hosting a bijuu with your sanity intact implies a total inability to submit wholeheartedly to some other guy's rules. Probably the only reason Killerbee still obeys Raikage sometimes is the Iron Claw the fact that he's his beloved~ older brother~ XD)

This chapter was so satisfying after the previous few... Gaara FTW, and yay, the Kages are finally making comprehensive plans!!!! Also, I hope Killerbee whups Kisame's ass. 8D I'm oddly excited about that upcoming fight.

This chapter doesn't really make up for the sheer "What the Fuck?" the other chapter instilled into my soul...but it was a pretty good chapter all things considered. I'm glad the Kages are as weirded out about Madara as I am. Gaara seems to be a pretty good strategist, all things considered. Even our favorite Lighting Kage man seems pretty level headed when he isn't intent on acting like A STORM OF VENGEANCE!!!!!!!

Gaara and Kakashi....hmmm, am I the only one who conjures up an entire scenario from the ether involving the newly minted Kazekage coming to Konoha and being downcast because Naruto is off with Jirayia and hasn't returned? So, eager to learn more, Kazekage seeks out his teacher since that's the one person who knows Naruto well who's not going to think of Gaara as "that crazy motherfucker that stapled me to a tree!".

Then again, I could just want Gaara to have an excuse to know the chidori....which gives him an excuse to combine lightning with his sand manipulation techniques....and learn the whole Iron Sand jutsu thing! Okay, maybe not.

(Flowing Chidori would would better for that anyway....)

Speaking of training and such....Naruto looking to extend the Sage Mode....eh, I suppose. Personally, I think there's better uses for your time. Like, off the top of my head, asking Temari or someone to train you in other air related techniques, especially some long range or defense techniques.....or really ANY technique that doesn't either involve getting really close to an opponent to be effective, or some gigantic "kill you all!!!" technique that forces you to be in super saiy....in Sage Mode, AND eats the hell out of your chakra....or involves being completely possessed by a giant fox demon. Or heck, if your gunning for Sasuke, get Yamato to show you some water manipulation techniques, since you already know he's got some jutsus that can not only counter your own but actually get stronger from them! I mean...yes, Sage mode is hella useful, but it takes time to get into and so on. It'd be nice if you knew a few jutsus you could pull off while you're just plain old Naruto- nothing fancy, just stuff to fight off people that doesn't require a clone's assistance, monster fox chakra, or standing still for a few minutes while the ninjas take pot shots at you.

Rant over. Good chapter. All in all, hoping for more like this and fewer with Madara "pants on head crazy" Uchiha talking about his plan. The less I hear about the Sharinmoon, the happier I'll be.

I'm glad the Kages are as weirded out about Madara as I am.

XD I think it's the only way I can really take the Madara thing as well as I am -- by seeing signs that even in-universe he's supposed to come off as WTFwhat. It's way better than getting the subtexty message that Kishimoto himself thinks it's all perfectly sane and logical.

... I like your Gaara/Kakashi scenario.

God yes, he's so content keeping his repertoire to KageBunshin and Rasengan, aaaaa repetitiiiive. Then again it's his personality... I've got him going to Baki and Temari in Teamwork's Suna Interlude (still gotta actually WRITE it, gah), but even then they're the ones who go "... um dude. you know, we know wind jutsu too?" I mean, it's THE element that could cut from afar, and he can't use it any way but by just about jumping straight in his enemy's arms. Naruto, damn it. Use your resources! ~____~

I don't know if Naruto would be very good at water jutsu, though. Most people seem to only have one favorite element and he doesn't seem like a water type to me. Actually I'd see him as wind/fire more if he went dual elemtens, but fire against fire = kinda useless. XD;

I have a feeling Killerbee is going to lose -- kisame looks confident, Killerbee looks overconfident, and then there's how they were just hyping up Kisame's superdangerosity and being all worried, and Kishi isn't really subtle with his foreshadowing. I just hope Killerbee doesn't get killed. ;__;

Still, yes, epic remodeling of the surrounding forests is coming. Mmmmmh.

The whole Iron Sand thing kinda got started when I realized that Earth was vulnerable to lightning. "Oh, okay. That's why Sasuke got through the 'perfect defense' with the chidori. Makes sense. Hmm...so if Gaara wanted to 'perfect' the perfect jutsu, he'd need wind....but that's not really his style, is it? Hmm...what if he used lightning? He could reinforce it under the sand or something. Then if someone uses a lighting jutsu he'd be like 'nope!'. Hmmm....maybe make it part of the armor? Like the whole shield of kakaku with all the iron in it....oh, and that would conduct well....wait....".

I was always thinking that its easiest to master your elemental affinity, but possible to master more. Just take more effort because its not as intuitive.

Fire would work. I just figured Naruto is looking to get Sasuke back, right? And being Naruto, that means matching him at everything. So, Sasuke knows lightning, Naruto knows wind, Sasuke knows fire, Naruto should go for water. But then again, Lightning does seem more logical for a Hidden Leaf to learn (who's gonna have the most badass jutsus in that department....the ninjas from the Country of FIRE, perhaps?). Then again again...this is fire jutsu we are speaking about here. And as we have had ample opportunity to see, fire jutsu is the least effective type of jutsu to fight anything ever, because every ninja in the world is apparently immune to it.
