1) "the village isn't all that they left us." Reemergence of the "Konoha is the people!" theme (or did I imagine it? XD) ... It would be funny to see Konha become a traveling people for a while, but apparently they're just going to move right into the bowl. It's gonna be fun living at the bottom when it rains. 9___9 (isn't there a river in the village? Better hurry up to reroute it or they'll have a lake pretty soon.)

2) Yamato keeps being incredibly convenient. He makes houses! He makes waterfalls! He makes forests! He makes tentacle woodies woody tentacles! I bet he could make it rain! Yamato is the best friend of the common farmer with high-school-aged daughters. u.u *eyerolls a little bit* Happy to see he looks tired, though -- he's got an actual limit! (of course that limit is still "what's convenient for Kishi" as long as we don't see him run into it, but hey.) ... bwahaha. He's gonna be worked to DEATH. XD

I'm so happy to see people who still remember Sasuke as a kinda sarcastic but still dependable and occasionally goofy kid -- as the kid who got just as passionate as Naruto over their contests if a little less loudly, and threw up over their floor like an idiot boy, and gave his life for Naruto without even thinking. Because he's still somewhere in here even now. He's got to be. ;__;

7) Oh Naruto. "Sasuke an I had a fight, so he left the village for a while." Even when he's minimizing/lying to cover up he still says it's his fault. ;____;
"What was the trouble? Some kind of love triangle?"
"WHat?! Of course not!"
... ahahahahaha XD Of course it's a love triangle. Naruto and Sakura are both in love with him. u.u~ ... I squee'd.
Also Sakura is so pretty in that last panel. ;________;

8) Goodbye Inari and Tazuna! and... n'awwww worry/depressed again. "Where are you?" SQUEE HE'S ALMOST HERE SQUEE SQUEE. ... I mean, um. *cough*

10) "I know what revenge is." => Superpretty and OWW both. I like Sakura's alarmed face too. It's like she's thinking "Naruto? Revenge? whatNO!"
And oh Naruto, in one hand it's good you can be on the same wavelength now, but it didn't go through because Sasuke didn't want to listen and that's it. You gotta sit on him and repeat it until it gets through! >( Still, yay for foreshadowing that this time around it's probably going to work because he's got all the elements for it! *_* (... eventually.) A jutsu to beat Sasuke AND "help Sasuke's fire get stronger", AND better understanding. Also they still have Kakashi! Awesome. They can do eeeet.

11) "'cause I want Team Seven to laugh together again... Sasuke included!" ... ;__________; Guess who's getting mad shipping pings.

12) meanwhile Sasuke is having Itachi and Madara flashbacks... I still maintain that he doesn't really intend to destroy Konoha as a whole. (but maaaaaybe he's pretending to himself that he does. >_>;; )

13) Bwahaha Team Samui. They crack me up. What are their names again? Omoi and... Ka-something? Also which is which? I know Samui is the woman team leader (and how refreshing is THAT. >.> It shouldn't be so rare, Kishi!)

14) Yay ninja eagles! Also -- five kages meeting? GAARA? *________*

... "that woman is no longer Hokage." ... fuck you, Danzou. Both for calling her "that woman" and for usurping her place like this. The second she wakes up she'll kick your ass, you decrepit old bastard, and then we'll see who's hokage >:(

... I love Danzou as a villain, because I can actually get into his mindset and it's more down to earth/realistic than "I want to be immortaaaaal/destroy everythiiiing". He just wants to be the leader because he thinks he's perfect for the job and he has strong political views. He's actually not an antisocial villain so far -- he just happens to hold political views that are at the other end of the spectrum from the heroes. XD I like it when you don't have to be a nihilistic psychopath to be an antagonist.

16) "Sasuke, eh? I had a feeling it would come to this." ... I want to say "a feeling? You sent an assassin after him!!" but in the other hand, he only acted from his firm belief that Sasuke was a traitor and if he was allowed to grow he would prove potentially extremely dangerous to the village as a whole -- and really... he has. So it comes off as smug and assholish and like he's sneaking around doing awful things behind the hokage's back (which he is) but in the other hand... It's hard to say his point of view is wrong. (at least on Sasuke. Killing that messenger frog, now? That was purely "my ambition is worth more than other people's lives." and a clear proof in the end he's only loyal to himself and his own personal opinion of what Konoha should be, instead of what it is.)

17) "The new Hokage has given permission to dispose of Sasuke as a missing-nin." ... *_________________________________* BWAHAHAHA YESSS. CONFLICT! GLORIOUS CONFLICT!

I hope when Danzou is kicked out of office his title gets taken back and handed to Naruto (eventually... when tsunade retires for good) ... because rokudaime sounds SO MUCH BETTER than nanadaime. He doesn't deserve to have the cool-sounding number! >__>


Anyway... I love this chapter. It had everything except a shiny new jutsu, and frankly at this point I'm rather glad for the break with those. >___>; Team Samui being funny and political! Danzou being smug and political! Inari and Tazuma bringing the n'awwwww back-in-the-day! Sasuke drawing near!!! AND SO MANY NARUSASU AND TEAM SEVEN SHIPPING PINGS OH GOD YES.

Has Danzou tried to talk to Sai about the failed mission and him turning away from Danzou's influence? I gotta admit, it'd be interesting if Danzou tried to take Sai out of the picture as a "security risk" or something, because Naruto's reaction to that and the declaration to kill Sasuke could be interesting. ("I won't let you even TRY and take another team member from me, believe it!")

Interesting chapter....

Danzou disappoints me by taking what, after some thought, is actually a perfectly reasonable course of action. Sasuke's been missing for three years, violently resisted returning twice in that time, and has been attacking other countries while wearing the colors of the terrorist band that been killing top Ninja AND just decimated Konoha proper. OF COURSE you'd call him a missing nin. That's not the decision an evil Hokage would make so much as one a less idealistic Hokage would make- what's extraordinary is that Tsunade held off on that declaration for so long out of respect and hope for Naruto and Sakura. So yeah, Danzou has disappointed me by being much less of a fucktard than I was expecting. I was expecting something truly evil like rounding up everyone associated with the Uchiha (like the cat ninjas) and torturing them...or something. Jerk. Its going to be hard to hate him if he makes fairly reasonable choices rather than declaring martial law.

This is interesting. We've kind of reversed things since the series began. Sasuke is now the one no one is going to accept, and the impossible dream is letting him live peacefully in the village. Now its plausible, even likely that Naruto will be the next Hokage. Meanwhile, everyone IS acknowledging Naruto. He got the respect and faith of the whole village after Pain, and he's got the power to back him up. All that remains is for the current Hokage to step down and he's the natural choice. Given a little instruction on politics, of course.

Oh boy....when Sasuke shows up, he's going to be storming through the village that now has Tazuna and Inari in it, but maybe also the 5 Hokages. Said it before....hijinks are about to ensue.

As for wood houses....am I the only one who thought having a village who's main theme is Trees and Wood set in a country whose primary jutsu is freaking FIRE? Seriously, that alliance between the first Hokage and the Uchiha clan was the original odd couple.

This really was an awesome chapter. I generally get sick when something comes up like a villain getting one over on the good guys... this time I was excited about it because I can't wait for Danzo's hopefully brutal death. Ninja story = greatest death scenes EVER

Well, Pain was the one who was leader, so I don't think she's confirmed leader... but she's probably the second strongest so she can offer it. But her country isn't part of the big fives and so she isn't a kage either way. She won't be at the meeting.
