Oh yeah, poor Zack still remembers when Cloud was younger than him and needed encouragements and protection. But now Cloud is the older, stronger one. When they notice that it's going to be weird for them both. XD
I'm not sure what Tifa did, apart from not telling Cloud his memories were fake, which was rather coming as a shock to her too at the time. It's not something that's very easy to say, I don't think, and she's a person who worries to herself a lot. I'm not saying there was no way for her to handle the situation better, but dropping the ball a bit only makes her more human and less mary-sueish. She didn't actually do anything to Cloud, and did rather a lot for him.
As for when they were kids, she was miss popular and he was an outcast, so she was as nice to him as she actually could. If she didn't *notice* him much, eh, she's not the social services and doesn't have a contractual obligation to befriend all poor rejects that her actual friends don't like. It would be great if she did, but that's really holding her to a higher standard than everyone else around her, and that's not fair.
not to say I'm not glad this fic makes you like tifa more, because liking a character or hating them is rather personal, but I don't really know what she did that's so bad she's more to blame than Sephiroth. o.o;;
