Yeah, Krish presents it as "we could make her sick! unleash a plague upon her people!" but really she frets first about the plagues the mermaid carries. XD
I'm not sure Liadan should get sick, because it means every merperson and two-tails they get into contact with might also get the same sickness, and some of them might die from it, and the "plague carrier" angle, while also dramatic and plot-making, doesn't fit very well with the rest of the story. Also if she gets sick then she'll still be sick when they meet the pirates and they'll have to take care of her, and, I don't know, she's the main character, her being the "take care of me" type bugs me. She's already somewhat submissive, I don't want her to be the one who has things done to her instead of doing.
But at the same time her not getting sick doesn't seem very realistic! They've had so long to develop their own strains of things. T__T Auugh.

When I came up with Krish she was kind of antisocial -- her concept is that she likes rocks better than people. That could still change, but I didn't make her friendly because Liadan would bond with her and not with Arun. That could change if I get a better idea of things, though. I could make her not like people, but in an avoidant, quiet way instead of a snarky scowling way, so she could still be sort of nice to Liadan, but it wears on her... Hm. Also it would make her more sympathetic later. HMMMM! possible! ♥ (Liadan: ... is she your pod leader's mate? your... father's mate? ... your big sister? I DON'T GET IT D: )
XD I like your name idea, but I still need to come up with what the indigenous people call it. Maybe "the sea" since that's where they live. Alas earthsea is already taken. XDD
