I'm sure it's been done at least in part, Piers Anthony skirted the edges in some parts of his Blue Adept series come to think of it. There's very little in science fiction that is really new anymore, we need a new breakthrough technology to spring off of these days.

It's more the sucktastic timing and that it's Joss Whedon. Whedon's like a golden geek god right now so anything he does gets plastered all over and very visible. If it were a midlist SF novel the odds of someone reading both and connecting them would be much lower.

It doesn't help that we're both calling our bodies with implanted personalities "dolls" either.

I'm really, really hoping he goes in a different direction. The dolls themselves aren't the focus of my novel but as I mentioned, the technology, and the culture around it, are fundamental components.

I guess I should put the last bits in my wiki for it and then dig up the wiki for my 2006 NaNo and see if I can get that one moving again. That one needs so much work it's practically like starting over so I've been ignoring it. :P

Or, you know, I could try this fanfic thing. :) I'm not all that comfortable trying to get in the heads of someone else's characters but I could try it might be the only way to get some TemAnko that I can stand.
