askerian: Serious Karkat in a red long-sleeved shirt (Naru_EmoNaru Animated)

*shakes the bunnies*

I can't write. Still. I've spouted out a Sakura ramble (not even a proper one-shot as she can't stay with one subject -- started with her relationship with Tsunade and, of course, ended up Team Seven) but it needs serious tweaking (rewording, condensating, and more rewording) and I can't find any motivation to do so. Teamwork is staring at me and grinning and not saying anything, the bitch. And all my other fics are playing dead.

Maybe I need to blackmail myself into writing. Yeah, it's hot, yeah, I'm feeling lazy, yeah, the canon isn't being very engaging right now. But damn it. *prods self with stick*

Also, I've wanted for the last six months to write filthy, filthy porn. Preferably of the Naruto's Harem variety. Alas. I NEED A GODDAMN PLOT. Also, to keep them IC.

Yeeah. Believable-yet-porny-porn. That's all me. *flops* =_=

Hm, is there a difference that you can point to between now and the days when porn flowed easily from your fingertips? Or is the inability to pinpoint a change in motivation/atmosphere/character-drive part of the frustration?

filthy, filthy porn
Mmmm, dirty talk. You've now sparked an image of the boys competing with one another verbally during sex, only to be thrown for a loop when Sakura owns them both with her bold, filthy remarks.

Also:
Maybe I need to blackmail myself into writing. Yeah, it's hot
... It is so many levels of wrong that I took "hot" to be a mocking sexual reference to the chosen form that you've chosen to use to inspire yourself. (ie Blackmail = kink-factor, so hot, I know.) *facepalms* The theme of your post apparently led me astray.

There's only so many permutations of the sex act, so there's no such thing as an original lemon. Ultimately what makes lemons differentiate from one another is context.

Originality is overrated anyway. Look at Kakashi- his opponents are always ragging him for being unoriginal, which is true- all his moves are copies except the chidori, and from what I understand even that is a close derivative of Rasengan- but he STILL KICKS THER ASSES. Quality and hotness are more important than doing something that hasn't already been done. Reread a bunch of good porn, then go think, and see if that comes up with any bunnies.

"they both crushed on each other in secret, then they get drunk and admit to their mutual love and have sex" bunny with a ten-feet long bazooka (I'd rather avoid Seme/uke kisses-blowjob-one-finger-two-fingers-three-fingers-cock, too)

I didn't mean the bad cliches, and I never suggested you should write something you hate; sorry if I came off badly or sounded stupid. What I meant was that putting too much emphasis on originality really puts an author in a cage of their own making, and just because it's been done doesn't make it bad.

I'm still not touching any "they both crushed on each other in secret, then they get drunk and admit to their mutual love and have sex" bunny with a ten-feet long bazooka (I'd rather avoid Seme/uke kisses-blowjob-one-finger-two-fingers-three-fingers-cock, too)
Hahaha. I thank goodness for this. There's certainly enough of that out there already. Your wording gets the, "OMG YES!" in both accurate summarization and humor. Ever consider writing parody?

because routine kills the hawt, seeing the same thing too many times makes the boner go flop
Agreed. Have the characters learned this yet, though? *g* I've yet to see a fic in this fandom in which an established couple or group discover that they need a bit more excitement, variation, and originality in bed. Then again, most of the fics that I read involve Naruto, who is a bundle of surprises and probably wouldn't drop this in the bedroom. I suppose he'd have to be more of the fun friend (with deeper attachments and undying trust) who gets invited to bed to spice (and complicate) things up.

So I guess i'm cursed. ZOMG porn with plot.
Not cursed, just very conscious of your own expectations and goals. The pressure that you've put on yourself to write good smut is tiring, yet is also part of the distinction that makes your fics your own and so worth the read, imo. I offered some suggestions above, but I think that this is one of those things that works itself out on its own. You may work through it as a result of long writing sessions and conscious plotting, or you may suddenly get up from the dinner table and yell out, "The mental boner's back!", rushing off to start writing. When it returns, a mental cock ring may be in order as payback for your current frustration. ;o)

Argh. So, you're stuck because you want it to be the good smut, in which the actions are hot, but they're that much more hot because there's a logical reason that they're in the position to have sex, they're in-character, and it says something about the emotional state, character dynamics, and/or character development of those involved. This is more than understandable, and it gives me a little thrill to know that there are still some authors out there who think of things like this and who dislike dropping standards for ease of writing.

For the bunnies that you already have, perhaps mapping out the progress toward hot, kinky sex would assist the writing process. At the moment, it seems like there might be a problem with the size of the task since so much work is required for certain bunnies, so smaller goals that can be accomplished, but will bring you closer to the sex, might be nice to have.

Hm, I know that fanfics of fanfics can be awkward at times, but it may help to consider this an option if you feel the need to write smut right away, but end up moving toward non-action due to the work that creating established dynamics in multiple chapters would accomplish. If you'd like to take your smut skills out for a walk for your own sake, perhaps select a longer fanfic which you enjoy and try out a scenario with those characters? It's not something that ever has to see the light of day, but it might help to relieve a little writing tension and could spur other bunnies. *shrugs* Just a suggestion. :o)

unless it involves the sexy no jutsu I end up going "meh" and deciding that fade-to-blacks are enough.
Hehehe. I feel similarly, so someone (in all their evil glee) challenged me to write a yuri drabble for Naruto, specifying that men were not allowed in any way or form (just the girls from the series). While a good exercise, it was so far away from what I wanted to write that it took me three separate tries to even come close, and this was just a drabble. Writing an entire fic? Oh hell no.

and to have something they get out of the experience besides an orgasm. Otherwise it feels pointless and empty.
This makes for the best sex, the type that I love to read. And yet, this isn't the realistic sex that so many people have, and I've rarely been turned away by realism. Sometimes the feelings that are brought up aren't logical, and sometimes an orgasm really does become the main event. In need of stress release? Horny? Things happen in life that may not necessarily be beautiful or add to our own development, but serve more primal purposes and are hot/enjoyable just the same if taken for what they are. Then again, you've got your own preference for writing. :o)

also, I RP way, way too much.
LOL. While you might have had kinky ideas left, I feel that the benefit of practice and experience that you earned from the RP's may outweigh the potential smut that you'd be free to write. Also, perhaps you're onto something with this. RPing is a different style/format and it seems to spur smut for you (or has in the past). Maybe you could try to experiment with other writing styles and techniques (dialogue, POV's, action without established identity, tenses, etc.) with your lemons. Where you may have felt constrained previously, it may be a different story if the style is the focus (different expectations for yourself) or you're approaching an idea from a new angle. Similarly, co-writing may disperse some of the pressure and allow for more freedom and challenges in certain ways. Have an idea that Must Be Done, but know that you'll never have the patience to finish it if left to your own devices? Start plotting and convince someone to jump aboard the project with you.

I've yet to see a really well-done BDSM fic in this fandom. :o( Perhaps it exists and the pairings scared me off before I gave the fic itself a chance. I would love to see it done. I think you're right that it couldn't be a one-shot. For T7, the most that I could see done with a one-shot would be an activity that turned borderline and excited the characters to the point where they'd start analyzing their own reactions and perhaps wondering about the possibility of BDSM on a hypothetical level.
