Oh, yeah, I think I started reading that the other day. I, uh, it was well-written and I was happy with the exploration of the SOLDIER stuff, but ... I couldn't get past the shiny Cloud-sue. ~_~;

I think I had to stop when the author pulled a "speshul natural SOLDIER haste-like thing" out of nowhere just to make Cloud seem even more kewl and awsum. I was like "bzuh? Why wasn't it mentioned before? Is it actually important? and if it's important, why does it sound like she just invented it on the spot just to make Cloud look even more specialer?"

He'd even grown kind of Special Family Connections to the Past of Canon Characters. What the hell. he's the hero!

Anyway, the fic was good on all other aspects... But in my opinion, Cloud really, really didn't need all that stuff added on to make him look cooler. ~_~; I guess some people enjoy reading about their favorite character being cool, but in that fic it killed the mood for me. *sigh* too bad, it had promises.

:3 just have to rework it a bit to make it readable; the POV switches back and forth every three lines, very distracting.

AND THEN I HAVE TO TACKLE THE LEMON SCENE. dun dun dun duuuun.

I can't give any specific fics, since it's all out of my fandoms, but I know

laylah has written a hella lot of Final Fantasy stuff, and those three names look familiar. Most of her stories are short-ish.

Ditto on the rec there, and she's a REALLY fast updater, and she's within a couple chapters of done, so if you want to read one all the way to the end, this one's going to be done probably sometime this week based on existing update rates. (23 of 25 chapters so far, and they're LONG chapters too, so plenty of reading there...)

How much of the "classics" have you read? (i.e. people who wrote stuff like three to five years ago?) Here's two recs I've found from that era in particular:

feartotread) are still writing stuff for it. As in, new fics in the last couple weeks. ^_^ (Helps to really REALLY like the Turks, though.)

A Long Hard Road (http://www.eukaryotic.dreamhost.com/NewFiles/LHstory.html) by TwigCollins, who's got an LJ with some variation of that name, possibly underscored somewhere -- mental impression from having read it like 2-3 years ago include: massive levels of angst, sometimes going past drama into melodrama, and the occasional OC alert, but it's all Cloud and Sephiroth and for the most part pretty well written... just don't read if you're in a "Grave of the Fireflies would really mess with me right now" kind of mood! (sweatdrop)

I used to read lots in the FF7 and 8 fandoms a few years ago, so I probably know most of the oldies. Not all that fascinated by the Turks either, except as secondary characters. ^^; (and oh, yeah, i remember "a long, hard road" -- the kind of fic when i'm all "OMGNOES" when I'm reading it, and then a few weeks later trying to come back to it, it's "... okay what horrible thing had just happened to him again, I don't remember the chronology". XD A fun fic at the time, but not one I would read again.

... in fact I just want more fic that feels like yours and ciceqi's. Oh well. *is in a picky mood* XD

Cloud, Seph, and Zack, with Reno as a secondary char later on. I'm sort of foggy on the plot, but I remember its some sorta time travel thing. Usually I aint a fan of yaoi/shonen ai fic, but this one's one of the exceptions.

Too bad Knowing Shadows hasn't updated in half a year.

Hmmm...if you've got a Zack fondness, and especially a Sephiroth/Zack fondness, try Lunar's fic. It's been a while since she's written much, but these are the sort of fics I love to come back to over and over again, and is not unlike Ciceqi's fluffier stuff.

Mostly I wondered...Kingdom Hearts? *is in euphoria over Kingdom Hearts II* I haven't read so many FF7 fics as Kingdom Hearts, so it's hard to rec, though Knowing Shadows has a nifty fic called Fusion http://www.fanfiction.net/s/846875/1/. But yeah, if you do Kingdom Hearts I could point out a few yummy instances of Cloud x Squall/Leon. Even a little Sephiroth, though I think he suffers from Itachi syndrome, he's iffy to pair up. *loves him like mad anyway*

She has some other Cloud/Zack/Seph fics that are more serious and angsty, but also really good.

anyway, if you're in the mood for hot spicy boypr0n, check out her community precious_stones. Historical fantasy universe focusing around an extremely steamy male brothel. And if some of the characters seem familiar, well, they're probably anime and game cameos who've had their serial numbers (and clothes) lightly filed off. ^_~ Playing spot-the-cameo is as much fun as drooling some days; so far I've spotted characters from Advent Children, Bleach, Saiyuki, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc etc etc. I have my suspicions about a couple possibly being from Digital Devil Saga (if that's the name of the game with the characters I'm thinking about) because she fics this game that I only know through her fics (and tend to occasionally forget the name of the game, but not the fic characters, for that reason)...

since it's close to 3 a.m., I should really get on trying to find a drivable route to work tomorrow, but I have NO idea where to start looking for the information... ^^;;

as for Cloud/Leon, I tend not to like anything but Squall/Seifer, so even though they're alternate versions it still feels weird to me, you know? XD;;;; I'm just fine with either Riku/Sora or Riku/Sora/Kairi -- though wondering if there are any that aren't school fics -- but pairings with the other crossed-over fandoms leave me rather cold. u__u;; maybe if I could have played a bit more... grarr. (oh hell yeah, Sephy is so hard to shack up with people. XD)
