As Sasuke outlined the last movements of the targets in a dull, uninterested voice, Naruto wondered if Neji had noticed. It was a stupid question. The other man was observant to a fault, and had probably picked up on it the moment he first saw Sasuke. It was something to keep in mind.
Naruto was used to working with someone who understood him. He wasn’t sure if Sasuke had /ever/ understood him- but if he had it must have been a very, very long time ago.
“The fifth ANBU team picked up information in the wind continent that they were headed somewhere in this mountain range here.”
Naruto frowned and estimated again. Five days, Perhaps 3 at a run if that open area was grassland and not a huge stinking marsh. He knew that Neji, pessimist as he was, would have a slightly longer guess, but in the end it was always half and half on who was right.
“6 days walk.”
Neji suggested gravely, and Sasuke nodded. Naruto scowled, only just preventing himself from rolling his eyes. Haveing two people so negative around was going to be depressing. They would probably moan at each other all day.
“So you want to intercept them in the mountains where the land is less open and an ambush is easier?”
Both Neji and Sasuke turned to look at Naruto as if they had forgotten he was there.
“Ideally.”
Sasuke said eventually, circling an area in the middle of a mountain range with his fingertip. His movements were calm, but his neck was awkwardly tight, his mouth set in a nevrous line. Naruto wondered if it was because of him. He had forgiven Sasuke- but it was easy to imagine someone like Sasuke having difficulty forgiving /him/.
I'm thinking Naruto only picks up on some things, and not others. :/ Not sure.
Re: good lord I go on a bit, don't I?
